First Trip - Montauk NY

We purchased our first camper last week, 2015 Forest River Rockwood Ultra Light 2607, and went camping on the beautiful beaches of Montauk NY Friday to Monday July 4th. What an amazing time we had. We had a few minor hiccups but nothing to write home about. We're already planning more trips to continue to make great memories with our family. Hope everyone had a wonderful Fourth of July!

Montauk: A drinking town with a fishing problem. I love that place.

Long Island: A nice place to live if you are retired and don't have to spend 12 hours on the L.I.E. to get there and back.

Of course, Pensacola ain't too shabby a retirement town either.

Thanks guys! Montauk is extremely beautiful. In fact I've lived on Long Island for over 40 years and never had the views and appreciation I had this weekend. Falling asleep to the sound of the waves and gentle breeze and waking up to the sun and sand was truly magnificent!

I love camping in Montauk. We will only go out there in the off season though, it's to crazy during the summer.

What campgrounds did you stay at? I heard Hither Hill SP is impossible. Glad you had a great time!

We stayed at Montauk County Park which is about 10 minutes west of Hither Hills. Hither Hills is a State park with a different reservation system and yes, booked out way in advance. There are a total of 65 sites where we stayed, each having about 45 feet wide for your trailer and truck. Every spot was taken but it was awesome. Everyone we met was fantastic and super helpful to us. In fact our neighbor hooked us up with 35 gallons of fresh water as we ran out just 2 days in! Purchased a 45 gallon water bladder yesterday at Campers World!
