We are not set on a city. Ft Myers is the farthest south we want to go so we can make the drive in 2 fairly easy days from west TN.

I forget the name, but there is a private campground with the primo sites mere feet to the Gulf of Mexico and a boat load of state parks there as well. If you can find an opening on the Atlantic sites, Gamble Rogers is and excellent and well managed park (I've hosted there). The intercoastal side had huge sunny sites and is nearly new.

We just want a little break from the winter in TN. We have stayed at a couple of nice campgrounds in the Destin area but we would like a little warmer weather than they can have in January. We would like to be Orlando and south with the southern limit Ft Myers. Ocean would be great but seems hard to find with sewer which we definitely want for 2 weeks. We would lso like concrete pad to keep sand and dirt to a minimum, glampers not campers. Thanks for your help!

If you like Fort Myers take a look at Cypress Trail Rv. We winter there and live it. It's a great location and beautiful park. Great dog area. Beautiful pool. Very friendly people. They should have sites available but I wouldn't wait to long.

Couple of Suggestions:
-Red Coconut in Ft Myers Beach
-Madeira Beach KOA is about a mile from the beach in St Pete
-Holiday Cove and Buttonwood are in Sarasota/Cortez near Bradenton beach
-Turtle Beach (Gulf Beach campground) RV Resort is on the beach but is hard to get into this time of year
-Tropical Palms in Kissimmee is in a great location just outside Orlando
-LazyDays RV Resort is in the middle of Tampa

We're actually heading north around xmas/new-years from Orlando area to Pensacola area. Should be an experience. We haven't used the heat in our new fifth wheel yet, so let's hope it works

Sanibel Island has beautiful beaches, so anywhere with easy access to there (either the one campground I know of actually on Sanibel, or anywhere around Ft Meyers) would be good

Check with Reserve America. If you haven't booked your two weeks yet your pickings will be pretty thin. Disney World is probably filled in January as are most of the State Parks and Federal Parks we stay at. We book our Florida parks at least eight months in advance.

Holiday Inn Travel Resort, Leesburg, FL is more of the glamping variety, south of Leesburg. Pretty area.

Beverly Beach CG is 25 miles north of Daytona and litterly ON the beach. St Augustine to the north, Flaggler Beach to the south. Lots of things to do, but expensive!
Marathon Key has Jolly Roger CG. Great park ON the Gulf and plenty to do.
