Waldo may be tamed, but Hampton and other towns along the way are speed conscious. Do what we do! The speed limit and relax! Kind of a more enjoyable trip than I 10 for sure!

You can run 4 to 5 MPH over between towns, but get close to the speed limits when you are getting into town.

Spot on about the speed traps. Take SilverbackMel advise, slow down and enjoy. It is shorter (spelled less fuel), less hectic and much more scenic. Traveled a lot in Fl., wouldn't even consider the expressway with an RV.

Agree with the others on RT 301, but the easy way to get to 301 is to take the Yulee exit for A1A/SR 200 and go west at the end of the off ramp. It's the first exit off I-95 in Florida and it saves a lot of hassle with Jacksonville traffic. Lots of signs lead you to 301.

Good point. A1 is now a 4 lane divided highway into Callahan, so it is a good drive.

Would like to find a way to bypass Jacksonville and continue on south on I95. I 95 thru Jville is a nightmare.

295 east beltway will take you around 95 through jax, adds about 5-10 miles to the trip.

Be careful going this route as it is 4 lanes to Callahan but they are working to widen 301 from Callahan to Baldwin so you have a lot of lane shifts going and barricades to contend with.

Going through there in 2012 was some of the most intense driving of my life and I live dab-smack between Baltimore and DC driving both beltways with regularity! It wasn't so bad in past summer but I caught it at a different time of day and refused to get rushed (and well, my mother-in-law wasn't in the truck with me!).

Interesting- just looked at the map. I think we'll do this the next time we're down through that way.
