Florida campgrounds and things to do
Anyone have any ideas on campgrounds to stay at in central/southern fl. Looking for a campground with nearby things to do, live music flea markets etc. Have been to Old Town in Kissimmee 5 times and we love it can walk from the campground to old town which is great but seeing the same thing and looking for something new any ideas?

From Kissemee take I-4 north a short distance. head due east on 528 bee line (some now call beach line) it ends at Port Canaveral. A nice campground right there on the beach is Jetty Park. Nice site, all hook ups, direct beach access. Plenty to do in port, a nice Rettingers flea mkt (huge) is in Melbourne about 45 min south of Jetty Park. Take A1A south to Melbourne then west on 192 the flea mkt is at intersection of I 95 Enjoy!!

Also a good walk down the beach from Jetty Park is the Cocoa Beach Pier. Restaurants, shops, etc.
Also RON Jon Surf shop walk fro Pier or bike if you have them. Good bike trails from Jetty Park

Good luck finding one that isn't filled up! We tried making reservations around the Cape Coral area and couldn't find any vacancies.

Yep, happens every winter in Florida. The whole state fills up with snowbirds, but it keeps us from having to pay state income tax.

All of the State Parks are pretty good ... we will be hitting a few springs this summer and a music festival in April & St Augustine in May .... always plenty to do within a bicycle ride away or short drive (TT so we leave it behind)

Don't know if you have ever stayed in trop palms if not try it for a night you won't be sorry get one of the cheaper sites, a short walk from the campground to old town fri and sat nights are great cars shows live music and lots of shopping and eateries, we've been coming for 18 years at least once a year.

Just stayed in the "cheaper" area of Tropical Palms over New Years. Nice place. Very nicely laid out and people were friendly. One thing to note: a lot of the people near me did not speak English, only French, so it was not as friendly as a typical campground. I think a lot of the people around us were snowbirds from Quebec.

Wow. The Florida State parks are like $20-30 a night. Might be hard to find a spot in February though.

Outdoor Resorts of America (ORA), Melbourne Beach, FL. The lots are individually owned however, can be rented through management company. I think $35 or $40 a night, not sure on weekly or monthly rates. One side on ocean the other on the Indian River, fishing pier, three pools, etc. - all roads paved, golf course ¼ mile, many many activities through April. Diane Graham is the manager, 321-724-2600. They have lots available; we were just there three weeks ago.
We liked it so much we bought one…but still working, visitation only.

Central Florida campsite fun
Try Kelly park ( Rock Springs) in Apopka, they have a lazy river type waterway to die for and you can walk to it from campground they have a concession and movies at night during summer. Usually can always get in and very reasonable, deer and turkey run thru campground and the just upgraded their service to 50 amps. Bathrooms are clean, go once you'll be back. Wekiva Falls is also close to there as a backup.
