Florida Panhandle

Any suggestions for a nice campground in the Florida Panhandle. We usually stay at St. Andrews State Park, but would like somewhere with full hookups that isn't too pricey. Thanks.

Have you looked at Top Sail Hill SP? It used to be a private campground and was purchased by the state, so it has more amenities than some other state parks. It was a little high, but not outrageous, the last time we were there.

Heading to Top Sail next weekend. If you are military, Coastal Systems Navy base on Thomas Dr, has on and off site camping with full hookups.

Have stayed at Fred Gannon Rocky Bayou State Park about 10 years ago. Was o. k. Last time I checked (last year) I think it was about 17 a nite. Directly on the beach is Henderson Beach State Park which was quite a bit more expensive. Draw- back to Rocky Bayou is the $2.00 to cross the causeway each time. Wayne

Topsail Hill Preserve State Park & Gregory E. Moore RV Resort, Santa Rosa Beach, FL, between Destin & Panama City Beach, FL is one of the best RV parks. We actually own a condo in Destin but pull the 5th., wheel down (960 miles round trip) once a year to stay at Topsail. Great bike trails and the beach, a short bike ride or tram ride, beach is never crowded. That is how much we like Topsail.

Darn...next time go out of the way and stay at St. Joeseph's Peninsula SP. The beaches are incredible, the bay is gorgeous and it is out of the way and quiet. It is a nice SP

Noticed it says the gates close at sunset. So I guess you can't go out to eat after dark?

Last time I did any camping down south, the state parks (Fla. and La.) shut their gates at a certain time, but had a combination lock for after dark trips. Wayne
