Yes I remember seeing you. We had the XLR hyperlite, we had the red Doberman and the Maltipoo.

Have you been to Blue spring state park before? We like the idea that you can swim.

No, and we litterally live right down the street. Hard to get reservations but we are finally going for 3 days in late June. I hear the water is cool but for late June, it should be refreshing.

How far ahead did you make reservations?

We made these in January. I'm guessing because of the manatees being here in the winter months, it's hard to find a site. I haven't checked to see how full the park is through the rest of the summer though.

My wife is looking into it for sometime in June also. If not, we will go back to Silver river again.

It would be nice if some of the Florida folks here get together somewhere.

Keep this thread going and we can all post info on different state parks here in Florida.

Would be nice. Like us, we were in the same park, but didn't know it. We've already reserved silver river for Jan 2014.

I need to check this park out. Must have been a reason this one is not on our bucket list.

Summer just isn't really 'camping season' for tent and pup campers. We learned that the hard way. So it's easier to find sites.

We tried to get a group together for next weekend, but didn't have any bites. We'll try again for fall. I know there are rally's, too, but those seem like pretty big groups.

We tried to go a couple years ago, but it rained all weekend. Will work on going back soon! The history fascinates me.

We're going to Flamingo Lakes Rv Resort next weekend, any info?

Just to let you all know, John Prince park in West Palm Beach is "one night free with one paid" until Sept 30, we booked there for Labor day weekend!

Curry Hammock SP just east of Marathon this past weekend. Friday was a rainout, but that's ok because we just relaxed. Saturday was perfect.

None of the sites are directly ON the beach. Sites along the waterfront are buffered by the dunes. But seeing as there are only 28 sites in the whole campground, you are only steps from the beach no matter where you are.

The whole campground is new, because the park itself is relatively new. Bathhouse is nice, although the toilets were the stuff of nightmares since all the waste just falls to the lower level to be composted. Unnerving to open the lid and just see a hole to nothingness!

There is a "day use" area as part of the park, but of course your camp rate includes that fee. Playground, shelters with picnic tables, and more beach. We discovered it's a VERY popular spot for kite boarders. Probably due to the constant breeze, shallow water (barely waist deep probably a mile out or more from the coast), and low boat activity.

Site #3

Campground beach (dogs are not allowed on the beach)

Hiking in the hammock

I'm looking for a nice quiet RV park on or as close to the beach as I can get. I'm not wanting big touristy areas. Just a nice quiet beach. Im traveling from Memphis Tn. with wife and 2 boys. Prefer somewhere on the panhandle or maybe gulf shores, gulf beach area as time is short. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Are you looking for full hook-ups, just water and electric, no hook-ups, right on the beach or just close to the beach?

I would try St Joe Peninsula SP. We stay 3-4 times a year and really enjoy it. It's very quiet and not many people on private beach. We will be back in September. The sites have electric and water with dump station when you leave.
