Florida to CT

I'd like some opinion / suggests please...
If you were traveling from Florida to CT and had a week to do it (towing a travel trailer) where would you stop and why?
You can skip DC because we are going to make that a separate trip some time in the future.
Looking forward to hearing the replies!

Thats 900 miles of early US history, not nearly enough time to cover it. I'd buy a eastern US tour guide and follow your interests. Need to take in Phila, birthplace of America....

Which route are you going? I95N or I75 to I85 to I77 to I81? Been both ways from the corner of AL,GA, and FL.

Kitty Hawk, NC on the Outer Banks! Aviation and the beach. Nothing else needs to be said. Enjoy your trip.

I'd rather stay away from 95 but my wife wants to do some beaches so I think there's going to be some zig zagging going on. We have talked about the Outer Banks so that is a serious possibility. I would rather have this week be relaxing, take in the scenery type stops, not so much the touristy need to see and do everything type of stops. We will be in Disney for a week before this so that's going to be enough rushing around for me. :-)

What are your interests? There is so much to see. A civil war buff would want to see Gettysburg. We love the finger lakes in NY - so much wine to taste and lots of hiking. Jamestown/Williamsburg/Yorktown gives you the beginning story of our nation all right there but that easily takes three days to do (or more if you also do Busch Gardens - there is a really nice combo ticket you can buy). If you are into birding and biking, the Virginia side of Assateague Island is a stop - fall would be best as it is a migratory stop for the birds (you would have to camp on Chincoteague Island - but Assateague is only 5 minutes away). Biking on Assateague is easy -it is all pretty flat.

Chincoteague and Assateague look amazing. We'll put them on the list of potential stops. Thanks!

We just came back from spending a week there. We go every year and discover something new every time. Bring mosquito repellent (they do spray to control the darn things on Chincoteague but not on Assateague). Also we avoid the last full week in July as that is pony penning week; way too many people.

A week is too short to go up to CT and make stops, skip everything and drive straight through to CT and the New Hampshire area, it's beautiful up there with so many places to see!
Franconia Notch is absolutely beautiful in NH.

They sound like they have a week to drift home as it seems they live in Conn. Every part of the country has points to see and has its own beauty. Stop and smell the roses when you can.
