Flying J Question

Heading south, mapped out a few Flying J's for possible stops that have RV features. The FJ app allows you to make a reservation, are they recommended or necessary? Thanks.

Frankly I don't know what a reservation would be for. A have travelled the NE to Florida route for years. There are some Flying Js that have RV services but fewer than you might imagine. Some have dump stations on RV islands; some have propane; NONE have potable water! Make sure you have water as coming by drinking water is not easy.

Recently we have begun to stay at Cracker Barrels. There are a lot more of them, they have big parking lots and a nice meal for a decent price. I have never been denied the ability to stay the night and generally wake up to a totally empty parking lot.

Used the Jays all the time. The ones that reserve have 5 or 10 spaces roped off to be used only for reservations of semis between 3 and 10am we'll say. Never needed it, usually take a rv spot out front or will use a rest area

We'vs picked one's with RV parking, etc. Thinking easy off and on may be beneficial. I'll need to see how CB's may fit into our itinerary. Thanks.

I just never wanted to get far from the highway. If the cb is close, why not, or a wally world.. Never had trouble with just a regular old truck stop.

We have stayed at a Flying J in Orange, Tx....JUST ONCE!! Very noisy with all the trucks running. Never have tried CB. Most WalMarts are pretty good and we usually need to stop at one somewhere along the way to buy something anyway. Just check the surroundings as some are in neighborhoods that are not where you would want to be.

X2 on the truck stop noise! Bad enough sometimes being close to interstate but when you are near a truck stop that is really annoying. I can't imagine what it's like being AT a truck stop.

One other advantage of Cracker Barrels is that they are ALWAYs within a very short distance from the exits since the interstate traffic is who are they generally serving. Walmarts are often fewer between and often much further away since they really could care about interstate traffic.

Strangely almost all of them have huge parking lots!

I spoke with Pilot/Flying J concerning Bio-Diesel. They informed me that their diesel fuel contains 10% Bio, a violation of Sprinter Warranty.
