Gettysburg & DC

Planning a trip to Gettysburg and D.C. Sometime this yr. I need suggestions on how to plan my stay. We'll be coming from NC. Suggestions on campgrounds in DC would be extremely helpful.
We'll be driving a 35' Georgetown with a toad.
Thanks.

We've stayed at Cherry Hill Park several times a season. Very nice CG and easy ride to the Metro into DC. Not much help for Gettysburg, we stay at a TT there.

Cherry Hill is pretty much it for the DC area. It is a very nice park, plenty to do and nice pool area, coffee and sandwich shop.
As far as Gettysburg, plenty of nice campgrounds in and around. We've stayed at the KOA outside of town, but others have stated that Battelfield is also nice. Lots of choices, and nice area. Downtown is a nice way to spend day walking around, and of course the battelfield itself.

We have scheduled a trip for March and we are staying at Cherry Hill.

I grew up in the Frederick MD area, we were thinking about going to Gettysburg but decided that if we do it is a 1 1/2 hr ride from DC and will use Cherry Hill as a base, I want to leave the camper parked as much as possible rather than drive in the DC traffic.

If you are going to DC and are a NC resident contact Richard Burr's office to arrange tours, they have been very helpful.

Cherry hill has a bus stop right in the park to take you to the metro station, but it takes a bit longer. To drive to the metro is only maybe 10 to 15 minutes. I have a 2500 4dr and fit fine in the lot. It is also free to park on weekends. Metro is in College park so you never need to drive in DC. We use the metro to travel around the city, very easy to use and figure out.

Thanks again for the input.

Just to let you know there is a local FROG rally in Gettysburg June 22-25 it's always a fun time. Go under the rally and event thread to get more info.
