That's a very broad question for a state that is roughly 375 miles long, you didn't specify what part of the state you are visiting. We usually camp in July at Acadia National Park and nights can still dip into the 40's. Last year's 4th of July, it was damp and we were dressed in pants and heavy jackets in Bar Harbor watching fireworks. So you never know.....
I think you need to be prepared for any weather when visiting Maine, especially on the shore.
