On the cell service, we got absolutely no signal on AT&T either while inside the park boundaries. Almost like they had a curtain up or something. The mountains must really block the transmissions! If you ever decide to stay outside of the park, we really enjoyed Bear Cove RV Park in Pigeon Forge - very clean and quiet, friendly folks and reasonably priced.

A park we stayed at had an active bear population (to dw's delight, me not so much). Best advice the ranger gave me was to hide or disguise any coolers - keep in back of truck or at least cover with a tarp even if the cooler only has water or beer.

Bears learn to associate coolers as a potential food source and will enter the site to check it out. What you want to do is to keep the bear from entering your site in the first place. They are on a mission and won't waste time unless they think the potential is there.

This is in addition to the other common sense things like not to leave food laying around.

Anyone ever camped at Great Smoky Jellystone RV Resort? We are new to camping as we just bought our TT last weekend. We aren't ready to try camping without hookups quite yet! We are currently planning a 4 day trip to the Great Smoky NP. From there 2 days in & around Asheville. Day trip over to Concord, NC to visit some high school friends then headed back home. Any insight would be greatly appreciated!

We stayed at Bear Cove in Pegion Forge and really liked it. Extremely clean and quiet. Would be a great place for a first time out.
