Heading to FL- report

Total incidents: 3

Did not get above freezing until SC.

Incident #1:
Somewhere in NC my low point drain mod succumb to the freezing temps.
The cold water elbow cracked & well we never turned the water pump off so we lost all our water & burnt out the pump. I have kept a roll of that fix-a-leak tape in my camper tool kit for years. Can’t seem to get it to seal completely so it’s off to Home Depot & about an hours drive south on I-75 is a CW for a new pump.

Will have to rethink that set up next spring.

Incident #2:
1:30am in SC all of a sudden there was a loud bang from behind. In the side view mirror I see a shower of sparks. Holly Crap!
I pull over, get out & find that my tailgate had fallen off! Only one cable was keeping it from going under the 5er & most likely tearing the heck out of the under belly.

Will be investigating that later today too.

Incident #3:
While going 70 mph in GA I look in my side view mirror & notice I have no marker lights. A look down at the brake controller & there’s no .c. Holly Crap Again! I hit the flashers & was able to come to a controlled stop on the shoulder. Then I thought, Why did I hit the flashers? No one behind me would see them! D-oh!

Turns out the umbilical cord came out. I’ve heard of this happening but never thought it would happen to me. Will rethink this now too.

Well the nice folks at Sun n Fun RV Resort were nice enough to give me a site 30 yards from the bar.

I closed the place last night.

Hope the rest of the trip is uneventfull. Welcome to Florida..... where it ALMOST never freezes and we never use those silly hhings you call lights. Her in Florida we are always in the dark!

Glad you still have your sense of humor!

We have a check list for "before we drive" and "after we get home"
or "after we arrive".

Top one on the "before we drive" is shut off
water pump, water heater, furnace etc.
We briefly followed a 2 story bunk house trailer this
summer with the TV antenna still up.
Get yourself a check list!!

Live and learn!
We once tried to launch our boat but forgot to undo the rear
tie downs. I kept backing and backing but the #$^&*! boat
would NOT come off the trailer. Doh!!
Let's not forget the one time in 14 years I didn't put in the
bilge plug. Man that water sure comes in FAST when you do that!!
