Hell in a Handbasket!

We were at (Rocky Fork State Park) only for Location Convenience! The Park is like the (Wild West) the S/P Rules are (Out the DOOR)! Many cars/trucks/boats parked on the Grass/MUD per Campsite! Golf carts driven by Kids! UNLIMITED SPEED Limit! Vehicles going the Wrong Way on the ONE Way roads! Fireworks from the campsites,as (BIG Launch Tube Type)! The State has Large (Boat/ Extra Vehicle) parking areas! Just the Facts! Youroo!!

Welcome to the "beginning" of the New America. Other posters, please don't say that it must be an anomaly. I had to track down a park police officer, because of campers shooting fireworks at each other. You can always tell if your getting through, when you observe his initial reaction, and it was "no biggie, why are you bothering me, it's raining pretty hard facial expression".

It's going to get a lot worse, so buckle your seat ladies and gents.

Sounds a lot like this past weekend at the CG we reside at.

Then when a few of us posted our frustrations on the private FB page created by and for seasonal campers like us, the posts mysteriously disappeared.

A whole lot of people are unhappy with the way the CG is being run. Many people have already pulled out and quite a few more are planning to pull out in the near future. We've already started scouting other nearby CGs.

I have found state campgrounds to be terrible, from MI to UT, I no longer visit them. The hosts are worthless and not enough park rangers to keep the peace. And that is even being a personal friend with a UT state park ranger.
Too many people not respecting the rights of others.

Where is this CG located? Please let your forum friends know so we are forewarned.

Sorry for your troubles... We've had both experiences. Last year, at Fort Hudson (an electric only, not water) park in Michigan. Total hooligan time, no ranger for MILES - fireworks throughout the night. Our dog nearly had a heart attack and we got no sleep. This year - at Bay City State Park. Well patrolled. Rangers walking all around the park starting at about 9pm. Only heard one go off - and it was a bottle rocket. No M80's. Dog still was stressed due to the TOWN nearby having their display, but we can't control that. Two thumbs up for Bay City State Park!

We do not have any problems like this anytime I have camped at Ontario Provincial Parks. The Camp Warden is a Provincial Police special Constable and can arrest and lay impaired charges even if walking. Granted the parks we go too do not allow mud bogging or have recreation sports as they are outlawed on crown land.

Had a sat dish stolen by outsiders raiding campsites one night several years ago, opened a lot of cars too and took items.

Our Private park where we have our park model at never gets this bad, the owner has had to call the police once when a youngster was hit by a golf cart driven by another kid, the parents and several other sites were given 24 hrs to vacate which they did.

That's exactly why we never stop at State Parks. Rowdy and drunks. No thanks.

We find that many folks from Ohio come to Kentucky for the great state
parks!!
Just saying that all state parks are bad is painting with too broad a brush.

OTOH going to most any park on the busiest day/weekend in the season is asking
for some noise and crowded areas.

That's just not true everywhere. We stay only in state parks and COE parks in Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia. Nothing at all like what you report. Sorry you have bad areas.

could be worse - could be like the young man in Calais jsut up the road from us that lit a firework on July 4th off his head and died from his error...
