We were in Hershey last week. We decided to stay at the Jonestown KOA. Its about a 15 minute drive to Hershey. They have a free shuttle if you buy your tickets there which saves the hastle and cost of parking. This is their first season as a KOA. Bathrooms and laundry room were older but very clean. We got a creek side site which was very nice. Had a cement patio and steps down to the creek. You can canoe/kayak/tube with your own or rentals, and they will take you to different spots upstream with the shuttle. Good area for kids to bike and they had a playground suited for younger kids. No pool though.

Not as close as the Hershey CG, but not too far and we really liked it. Pretty quite even on the weekend when it was fairly full.

We stayed there a few weeks back. All I can say is what a zoo!! Everyone is smashed in there and the noise level was high. I wouldn't go back there. We found out the hard way that Hershey is a tourist trap. If you like that kinda thing, then you're all in! :-) I always wanted to go there for the chocolate. Skip it in my opinion.

In season the campground is very busy, on weekends a total zoo, I would worry about the kids on bikes in the campground due to the amount of traffic with the coming and going in the park. Yes it is very noisy with the train traffic but if you want to be near everything Hershey that's what it is there for.

Are we talking about the Hershey Park Camping Resort? Formerly Hershey High Meadows. Just wondering. Have not been but are booked for next July for 5 days.

It is an excellent park, but the one Gettysburg Outdoor Word (about 15 mi. from Gettysburg ) better for bikes and kids. I was at both for 2 weeks , just got back home

Gettysburg Farms is nice. But, that's a pretty decent hike to get to Hershey from there. If I was going to stay at Outdoor World/Thousand Trails for Hershey, I'd look at the Hershey Thousand Trails location. Beautiful place. We've been there a few times, but haven't been to Hershey Park in-season in many, many moons. We're sorta-kinda local (well, our family is) and we go for the Christmas Candylane thing that they have each year.
