Hershey RV Park

We are planning to attend the Hershey, PA RV show next September and plan to camp at the Hershey RV Park. Before I make my reservations, I wanted to see if anyone has camped there and your opinion. Also which sites do you prefer? After reading the reviews on RVParkReviews, I think we should stay away from the pull thru sites. Anyone tried the back in sites, and if so, how easy/hard are they to get into?
Thanks!

I would book now as they fill up very fast for the show, I do not know what site#'s but just across the creek to the left there are some very nice full hook up sites.

We drove through last year and I took down some notes:

Learn To RV: Hershey Highmeadows Campground, Hershey PA

If you're a light sleeper, you might want to try and stay as far away from the trains from feedback that I've gotten from folks who have stayed.

Not too far from Hershey is a nice campground called twin grove. It is within a half hour or less. Stayed there for a crossroads rally earlier this year. Big sites, dog park, pool with water slide, carousel, ferris wheel and mini golf.

You're stepping on a fine line Mister, bad mouthing trains! 😀😠

In all reality, next time we go to Hershey, we will stay at Highmeadow. I didn't last time because while on vacation, I want to be as far away from the rails as possible. But, I like the fact that we can have ERT in the morning and go for lunch at the site. Our last trip, we stood at Lickdale Campground, now a KOA.

+1 for Twin Grove. Its about 20-25 miles away north on I-81. Very nice CG, we go there every August with my family (mon/dad/sisters/nephews/nieces/etc) for a week. It's a relaxing place, staff is nice, pool just remodeled too.

For other options, for the Thousand Trails members- the TT Hershey campground is nice.

We have stayed at hershey meadow, we loved it. Having said that we have 2 girls age 3 and 5. So the fact that it is such a kid atmosphere they had a blast, we stayed in site 57 both times, its a back in and not hard at all. We have requested this site because the kids park is right behind this site. I would not recommend the pull through sites, you are packed in like sardines maybe even tighter. 237 and 211 are the only 2 sites that are ok in the pull through area. As for the train that does pass through every 45 minutes, up where we were which was close to the train, was not bad at all. i just left the fan or AC on night and we never even heard the train. Sites 20-38 back right on to the train tracks, would probably hear and feel the train there.

The park is very clean the quiet hours for the play ground is enforced (which is real nice) and the bathhouse is very roomy and clean. Overall a very nice park and you cant beat the convenience of the location. They have a shuttle that goes to hershey park all day long, not sure if it runs for the RV show, but if it does I would highly recommend taking it. its free with the stay and you don't have to pay for parking for your own vehicle and you get dropped off at the front door.

Just my opinion from our stays at this Park, if we weren't planning a trip to disney next year we would be going back to the park again.

Here is my $.02:

I stopped by Hershey Park Campground during the RV Show to see what it looked like. Tight quarters like many commercial campgrounds.

The rates are a bit high.....full hookups are $65 per nite during the RV Show. On the plus side, I think I saw where they offer shuttle service to the Park, but I am not sure about to the Giant Center.

I have stayed at Harrisburg East Campground for $38 per nite for 30 amp service and water....not sewer, as I just dump on my way out when leaving. Nice campground, but is right next to I-283 with traffic all nite. I drown out the noise by leaving the AC fan on. About 8 miles away from the Giant Center. Nice friendly folks run the campground.

I also checked out Hershey Conewago RV Park. Again, my impression is nice friendly folks that run the place. The campsites are in an open field. A bit of room to move around. $46 per nite for water and electric. I don't think they have sewer sites. 6 miles away from the Giant Center. I may stay there next year during the show.....depends on who has openings when I decide to reserve.
