Highway Zombies

Hi Guys...

Am I the only one that experience zombies that don't look or fail to yield when coming up a ramp to enter the highway??

Then they continue to drive along side the RV until they run out of pavement??
Do they expect me to just stop on the highway for them or just swerve into the passing lane full of traffic?

Happened at least 5 time on the way back from Maine...

I have never seen anything so stupid in my life.

Happens to me all the time . seems they don't know that the on ramp is for gaining speed to enter a freeway . they just cruise along at some slow pathetic rate . you know they see you and they neither speed up nor slow down . most people should not be allowed to drive they pay no further attention to the road then the car in front of them . Where as i know whats going on down the road as far as my sight allows

I've told my wife a hundred times, they should make merging onto an Intestate highway part of every driving test. If the applicant can't do it correctly, they fail the test.

What about loss of driving priveldges for distracted driving? Texting, Smoking, Eating half a rack of ribs etc..

Seems to happen all the time....everywhere. I don't mind slowing down or merging into the left lane....IF....IF.....it is clear to do so.
As probably most of you, I have had my share of dirty looks, cussing and the finger aimed my way.
I wonder sometimes..... they not see the YIELD sign or understand it's meaning?

On our way here to Michigan had a NJ driver (SHOCKER!!) ride the left lane, that was ending in 1000ft. The lane ended and his lane went away into our once middle lane... He flew down the shoulder, almost lost it into our trailer, then just missed the center abutment of the highway before speeding past us while his Jersey Shore wife gave us a dirty look... I did not even see them coming on our left he was moving so fast.

It happens all the time. When your driving a 30,000+ lbs rig with air brakes it is amazing how stupid these drivers coming on to an interstate can be. Try stopping or slowing down enough to allow these idiots to come on. I can't tell you how many times I have literally pushed some of them onto the shoulder.

Another pet peeve is when they cut in front of you and slow down. I love my air horn. I hope I scare the crap out of them. I would never want to be an 18 wheel driver. It is no wonder so many run right over some of these idiots.

That is also a reason I operate a dash camera all the time so I have a video record if one of the stupid drivers causes an accident.

Excellent point. Too many drivers want to drive 50 mph on the freeway. BUT, they think they MUST do it from a position in FRONT of you!

I think I'll start a thread called "Bumper Stickers I'd love to have on my bumper if only there was enough room"........... Sorta like "I promise I'll move to the right just as SOON as you stop passing me on the right"...........and a million more.

It works the other way, too. You're trying to get on, the left lane is clear, but the guy in the right lane won't go over to let you on.

They do that in NC too. Drives me crazy. I intend to tow in the middle lane whenever possible as it avoids most of these situations. I learned to do that when towing horses because standing on your brakes can potentially injure a horse. My other favorite is the one who flies up on your rear while there is plenty of room to go around you in the left lane that is completely devoid of cars. Eventually the get tired of being behind you but not until another car is coming up. This way thru get to cut that one off. And don't get me started on the slow poke that pulls out slowly in front of you and then forgets where the accelerator is.

While I would when not towing.. I stay out of the left lane for the 80mph people to drive on. I do not need to move over for you, you have the yield sign not me. You can speed up or slow down to merge. My cruise control is set..

Most times your can't move to the left unless its 4 am in the morning or your in the boonies! Forget being able to do that in New England on Route 95!

Actually, there is no other way. It's your resposibility to yield not the other way around. Just because your driving a monster vehicle does not afford you special treatment; that's your choice. Unfortunately, I believe some 18 wheelers have been held responsible for accidents involving non yeilding to ramp zombies. Some people just have no concept and just because most highway travellers move over (as a courtesy) or yield to the zombies they think it is required and don't even look at the lane till they run out of on ramp. It's my responsibility to yield and merge, whether that means speed up or slow down.

Add me to the dash cam group. In addition to the one in the windshield my rear observation camera also stores a video of everything for the past six hours.

I never said they HAD to let you on. Only that they WON'T. Half of driving is obeying the law and half of driving is being courteous.

My peeve is the "disabled drivers". Those are the ones that drive with their state issued "disabled PARKING permits" hanging from their mirrors and blocking their view. Those are parking permits, not driving permits! We have one for the wife's mother when we transport her to doctor appointments. It is even printed on the placard "IMPORTANT: REMOVE BEFORE DRIVING VEHICLE". Can't remember how many times I was almost hit while towing by these careless drivers. Yes, I have a dash cam also.

My pet peeve are the ones that come flying past, pull into your lane, and then jam on their brakes to exit. Why not just fall in behind me and then exit? There was plenty of room.
