I live about an hour or so from Hillsville and have been to that flea market a few times. The main drag from one end of town to the other is maybe I don't know 20 blocks? It might be 2 miles..there are sidewalks on both sides and traffic does still travel somewhat on the streets and also people partially walking along the streets. Police presence is there to control traffic and assist. There are vendors in yards and parking lots all along, the local VFW has a large area filled with vendors also a gun show inside it's buildings. The original start of the flea market was this gun show. There are places to park every where. folks charge to park in their yards all over the place, the north end of the whole thing has a large area where you can park and RV and there are electrical outlets as well..I don't know what they charge. WE have always parked in a persons back yard at 10 bucks a day on the eastern end pf town. You will need actually 2 full days to shop it all. It's amazing. Rte 58 goes through Hillsville and I live just off of it at Danvillle, Va. There has been a 4 lane bypass of Rte 58 completed in the area so, that eliminated a lot of the extra traffic that used to go through Hillsville and so, it's a little less congested during the event. Check for websites which might have more info if you need specifics. You might consider paying whatever the price is for parking as it will be to your benefit when you get done at the end of the day and have to walk back to where you have parked...plus, take one of them shopping carts with you that folds up it will serve you well, and as I have done, carry a small cooler for your drinks if you have a preferred drink. we always carry a couple cold waters. There is food sellers all up and down the streets and so you will have a lot to choose from as well as a couple restaurants that will be open. you will have lots f choices. I would however recommend you go prepared in case of rain and in case of lots of sun, either can happen. Take a small wagon to carry your purchases though or a shopping cart, most local flea markets or harbor freight stores sometimes have a vendor who has these things for maybe 20 bucks. We keep one in our RV and when traveling long trips, we have one in our van.
