Hop-On Hop-Off Tours in NYC & Boston

We RV'd to New Orleans a few years ago and stumbled across the "Hop-On Hop-Off" tours. It was the best experience ever! For those who have not tried it: you park you car at their home base, pay a tour fee, and then ride a double-decker bus with a tour guide sharing sights and information. At designated spots you choose to "hop-off" explore, shop, eat, rest area ... and then catch the next "hop-on" bus to next spot. It was perfect for us.

We are taking that NYC trip then on to Boston with a 5, 7, & 9 year-old and think this is the way to tour the cities and keep everyone happy ...

Question: have you done either of these tours? Where did you park toad and pick up the tour bus? Any other tips or suggestions?

We bought the NYC Grayline tour tickets online and went to the Times Square location to find the buses. Cant speak to parking.
