I was reviewing my e-zpass statement from my recent trip to NJ Beaches from my home in PA and I crossed the commodore Barry bridge from NJ to PA on my way home and they charged $30.00 for my f-150 and my Crusader 290rlt fifth wheel. I can drive six cars over the bridge for the same price. I only have four axles why do I have to pay the equivalent of 6 axles. Has anyone else had this issue and is there anything to be done about it? I may have to drive a little farther out of my way to find another way out of that state. That is the only state that I know of that you can drive into for free but you can not leave with out paying tolls.
There is bridge on I-95 just north of Havre de Grace, Maryland, that charged us $28 the first time we went over it. From then on, we always got off 95 and drove two miles north to the bridge on US-1...free.
A couple of years ago I drove from Philly to Long Island, NY in a 4 wheel rental car for work. Tolls and bridges total was $73 bucks. It's an easy tax to raise and nobody bitches enough to stop the gouging.
Do a google search for articles on how much toll bridge attendants make a year and you will see where that money goes!

You know what the sad gospel truth is? The states that have toll road........Their roads are no better than Minneosta roads were I live and we do NOT have tolls and our roads get beat to heck from winter and salt.

You would think that but a lot of them are well over 100,000 a year with some of the vets making 250,000 a year. Not a bad gig

When I had just moved to PA, I missed an exit and found myself crossing the Ben Franklin bridge into Camden NJ. The best $3 I ever spent got me back in PA.
There's a reason the toll is in one direction. The alternative is staying in Jersey!

The old joke was that no one would pay to get into NJ that's why the tolls were to get out!!!!
The Hatem bridge on northbound 95 I believe is around $35, I know once I paid close to that at the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel but I also had a tri axle 5th wheel so I probably paid a commercial rate.
By the look of most toll booth operators, I guessed low paying job. The hair, teeth, clothes, etc. did not make them look like even 50K a year much less 100-250K. Must be unique east coast situation out there. Midwest no way! Gonna have to ask them now as I run into tolls. Could be a easy retirement gig that pays better than a Walmart greeter. I'll try for the toll area in Orlando, FL and remember to say have fun at Disney World kids.
