We came through on the 3rd of April and no issues. It has construction before the slide area with two lanes as well as after the slide. The slide construction is one lane only (no wide loads) and they have barriers up to protect drivers both concret as well as semi trailers lined up in the main area beside the road. It's 45 mph in the construction zone and we had a Cadillac pass us on the right going at least 60 and right behind him can another four door car just as fast but as my wife started to say where is the Hwy patrol the second car turned it's blue lights on !!! It was a go all the way !

We also came through on the 3rd, although it was around 1:00am. Never created a problem going down or back.

Came through last Friday at about noon, traffic backed up for 2+ miles. Took us about 45 min to get through. Wish I'd gone with my gut and hopped over to Nashville and came up 65 to Indy, but what is done is done.

April 1, what a mess

We came through on April 1st, 8 mile backup, one hour and 30 minutes to get through the one lane section. Wish now I had taken 25E to Corbin.

I would think that would be a faster route for you anyway. I know, Atlanta to Dayton is less than an hour difference taking I-65. But it would depend on Nashville traffic.

Depending on the time of day you pass through, but I would think you will have a considerable back up. Taking the 25 detour may be a viable option for you. It could be a gamble either way, but the truck traffic tends to slow things more than anything.

If you'd rather be moving, even if for more miles and at a slower speed, take the detour. If you'd be OK sitting for a while, stay on the interstate.

I came through there around midnight a week ago and ran right through at 45mph. That was my goal for the day, to get passed the rock slide. Of course Tampa to Atlanta was just about one long traffic jam! Horrible traffic all the way with spring breakers and snowbirds all leaving at the same time.

Just came through, slowed down to 40 for 30 seconds. They are cleaning up the second lane, removing barriers. I bet it is open within 24 hours.

They were suppose to have it open by the 15th or 17th anyway.
