I 95 overnight Rest stops

Traveling down I 95 and fairly new to this. Looking for a rest stop on/close to I 95 in North Carolina/South Carolina and Northern Florida.
Sunseeker 3100SS - self contained. Just need safe haven - don't care about facilities or the view.
As a noobie any help always appreciated!

Most Wal Marts, Cracker Barrell and Cabelas will let you stop overnight. Get the RV PARKY app for you phone and add those places in your filter. You can also find it on you PC. Just checked and there are several Cracker Barrels along I95

There is a Welcome Center as soon as you enter Florida on I 75. There is plenty of parking in the rear.

There's a very nice truck stop in Kenly, NC--the Kenly 95 Petro--with a truck wash if your rig needs a bath. Then there's South of the Border, just south of the NC/SC border. And there was another nice truck stop near Savannah, GA, where we parked for the night on the way to FL. I agree about Trucker Path...good app.

I 95 overnight Rest stops

Bass Lake Campground in Dillon, SC is a great layover stop. I have stayed there several times and the owners are real nice people. It is right off the interstate and they recently installed a new security gate. 50 & 30 amp service with full hookups and very big rig accommodating.

That looks like a nice place, as long as you're immune to the sound of planes landing and taking off behind your campsite!

Personally, that would put me right to sleep. But that's just me.

Not a very active airport. To be honest, I've never heard one.

Good to know! It looks super convenient to 95, and if the owners are cool, the sites are big, and it's affordable, I'm in...

Look at a google Earth image of the airport, you won't even see an airplane on the ground. The rate is about $35/night.

I carry next exit which is a book that has exit info for many different highways. When I get an idea of where and when I want to stop, I check that and compare it to campgroundreviews.com to see where to stop. Some places frequently recommended are Carolina crossroads in NC or Pedro's south of the border in SC just below the NC/SC state line. We overnighted at pecan park rv resort in Jacksonville FL.

I 95 overnight Rest stops

I too have stayed at Pecan Park. It is a very convenient and clean layover stop.
Carolina Crossroads looks very nice. It's just too close to me getting home. If I make it that far, I'm parking in my driveway.

I've stopped at Whispering Pines in Rincon, GA- very level; maybe 5-6 miles off of the highway.

Pecan Park RV in Jacksonville, FL (a little expensive for an overnight at $44, but paved and mostly level spots is hard to argue). The mention of airplanes at another reminded me of here. They're pretty constant, but the people are friendly and arriving late isn't an issue.

I've long looked at Pedro's at SOTB.

And we have stopped at Kosmos RV Park in Glen Allen, VA as well.

We did hit the Walmart in Dillon, SC one night that it was cool enough to not need A/C (no generator for me).

Camping World in Pooler, GA exit 102 has plenty of parking and they let you plug in overnight, if you get there early enough to get close to an electric island. They're at the end of a dead end road so if their parking lot is full you can park along the road in front safely but without electric.

I've been following this closely as we are heading to FL in December. I'd do the 14 hours straight but the DW isn't so fond of it. I had seen Bass Lake, and it looked like a good overnight spot. Glad to hear it sounds like its and easy in/ out and big rig friendly, because I'm about 58' and I'd rather just leave the truck hitched up. Think I may just book a site there and go for it!

There are several flying j's on I-95 in NC and SC and Georgia. They allow overnight parking. Google Flying J's for locations.

Truth be told, when driving down I-95 (from MD to FL), I prefer going without reservations. Unless it is a holiday weekend, there are usually transient stops that are easy to stop and spend the night. If you're spending a couple days, maybe pre-plan and be picky; otherwise, find the closest campground when you're tired of driving and pull in.

Do any of the free sites (Wal-Mart, Cracker Barrel, etc.) have restrictions on putting the slides out? (I've heard that in rest stops and truck stops slides are a no-no just for safety sake.)
