Irene's aftermath

Last October, my DW and I had planned a 10 day to two week vacation in New Hampshire. Scheduling conflicts forced it to later in the month, so we changed our minds to half of the time at Colonial Williamsburg and half at OBX. The day before we were supposed to leave, a family matter came up that forced us to cancel the trip. This year, we had hoped to try the VA and OBX trip the first week of October. With the damage from Irene, we're thinking that may not work, and with the reports about Vermont, we're wondering how New Hampshire fared? Do any of you have first hand information about either destination for early October this year? Maybe we'll have to find a 3rd destination instead.
Thanks in advance for any help.

Hwy. 12 to OBX has been breached in 3 locations. NCDOT is tossing around ideas on how to effectively fix the road at this time. I don't believe they will have the road ready by October.

Thanks for your response. That's what I suspected.
