Anyone headed to James Island over the Christmas Holiday?

I can only dream about going to SC! High in Mn tomorrow is 3 degrees. Hope you have a great time. My only consolation is that I hope to get some skiing in over the holidays.

I wish. James Island County Park campground is a great place to camp. Festival of Lights should still be going on through New Years. Is that where you are staying?

The Holiday Festival of Lights ends early this year. December 31 is the last night. It usually goes until the following weekend, but not this year. It sounds as if it might be a permanent schedule change.

I was about 20 miles from there last week - picking up my Marine Graduate from Parris Island.
Stayed in Beaufort area - was nice town but our focus was on graduation and getting back home so no time to explore. Straight back home 14 hr drive

Congrats back to you also: We are excited he got RA until Jan 14th then MCT in NC for 29 days (delivering him will be another road trip for us - I'm hoping to take the camper, the extra fuel cost pulling it is about same as one night's hotel, so not really saving on a long run like that unless we stay longer than one night ). Next will be aviation school in Pensacola after that and then he will be only 3-1/2 hours from home. Needless to say Mom is very excited with the prospect of seeing our Marine more often.

That will be nice! Our son is infantry. Not sure where he will end up after SOI but nothing is close to us...we are hoping to make a few long road trips to visit him in the next 4 years. For now, just enjoying his time home with us!
