Kentucky State Parks

Starting to plan a few trips. Would like to go to Kentucky this spring, any advice on the state parks. looking at Lake Cumberland. we like to spend about 3 days at each park.

"Twenty degrees and the hockey games on.
Nobody cares; they are way too far gone,
screamin' "Boat drinks," somethin'
to keep them all warm.
This morning I shot six holes in my freezer.
I think I got cabin fever.
Somebody sound the alarm."

Depending on what you are looking for, there are tons of options to choose from.
Personally, we go to Laurel River Lake and camp at one of several places.

If you are flexible on where you want to go, you can check out any of the following:
Corbin/ Laurel Lake KOA | Camping in Kentucky | KOA Campgrounds
London District Campgrounds
RV Park Reviews :: Corbin, Kentucky ( KY ) - RV Parks and Campground Reviews

I also use RV Park Reviews :: Home when making plan out of my area.

You can rent a boat and view some of the best clear water in Kentucky.
Hope you have a great time!

And if you care to come on down the road just a little bit (+/- an hour from Corbin) there is Cumberland Gap National Historical Park in Middlesboro. No lake but trails galore and beautiful campgrounds.

State Parks around Cumberland

General Burnside State Park has a nice campground and a recently renovated golf course. It is about 8 miles South of Somerset, KY.
Campground Details - General Burnside State Park, KY - ReserveAmerica

I haven't camped there but Lake Cumberland State Park is near the Dam and has a nice lodge and restaurant as well as a campground. Kentucky State Parks - Home

For a cheap private park, try Lake Cumberland RV park...$125/wk off the lake but a short drive to the Burnside area.

We have camped in State parks all across Kentucky. Our favorite is Paintsville Lake State Park. It is a small campground (32 sites) on a beautiful lake. The RV sites are big, clean, and include water, electric and sewer.

WHAT are you interested in doing???
Are you going to ---
rent a boat?
rent a canoe?
hike a little?
hike a lot?
want a pool?
want a beach at the lakeshore?
drive around to nearby attractions?
do you have small kids?
just hangout in the park?

We can be more specific in recommendations if you
are more specific in what you want to see and do!

I've got a suggestion---

Big South Fork National River and Recreation area!!!
Blue Heron Camp ground.
Been there done that 3 times and heading back!
Big South Fork National River & Recreation Area (U.S. National Park Service)

Don't miss Yahoo Falls. Highest water fall in Kentucky!
Easy drive from BSF.

Biggest is by far Cumberland Falls known as the
Niagara of the south.

looks we will be headed to Cumberland Falls with stops in Southern Indiana. I will add another Kentucky Park as we get closer to leaving. We never know how long we can go for the spring trip. Now the summer trip- I want to go around Lake Michigan- that will be another post!
thanks for all the great info- anything you can do about an early spring
