Key West! Bluewater Key reservation made!

It's May and I'm barely recovered from cold weather, but we're already thinking about this winter. We just made reservations for 9 nights at Bluewater Key in Key West, FL.

Site #49, waterfront with tiki hut and a boat dock.

I CANNOT WAIT!

Now, next to figure out a propane campfire since no fires are allowed...

(edit to change "oceanfront" to "waterfront" since it's a bay and I'm pendantic)

DAMN! Enjoy. We just LOVED Key West. Our trip to the keys was a trip of a lifetime for us. It'll be a few years before we return, but we will.

Enjoy (and you suck...) HA!

dad,
When are your reservations for and what are they charging? We couldn't get anything for February.

Thanks.

SKnight, there are 2 rental places for Bluewater Key:
bluewaterkey.net
bluewaterkey.com

I emailed both around the end of the year looking forward to this winter. Both of them weren't scheduling until April/May, so they were putting together lists. The .net folks couldn't accommodate our schedule, but the .com folks have us set for a waterfront site.

We had set travel dates, so it was a little nervewracking to see if we could get in there or not. If they both turned us down, we were bailing on Key West entirely.

So it's the same place, but managed by two different outfits? That's odd, but whatever.

I'm in Maryland (grew up in PA and still go back often, though).

9 nights at the park. Figuring it'll take us 5 nights to get there and 4 to get back.

My trip down is planned for:
Day 1: To Kosmo Village RV Campground (130 miles)
Day 2: To South of the Border RV (275 miles)
Day 3: To Country Oaks Campground (310 miles)
Day 4: To Jonathan Dickinson State Park (310 miles)
Day 5: Arrive Bluewater Key (240 miles)

We have a traveling average of about 45mph once we factor in stops.

Yep. All of the lots are privately owned. So, it's 2 different rental agencies for the same "RV resort".

I think .net is slightly cheaper than .com - but at the end of the day, this is a vacation and we were paying whatever we were paying.

Looks like our nightly rate works out to be $175/night. The 9 nights are running us $1,569.38.

We stayed there for three nights this past winter. .net is a owners group that manages their own lots to rent. I dealt with Rita and she was on site no problems. If you deal with .net don't expect help from the office. ,com is a normal set up with the management company. I saw no issue either way. It's a great location and a beautiful place. Three days is not enough. I want to go back.

I'm assuming it's their waterfront inseason rates ($155 + tax). The woman gave me a total for the 9 nights and I simply divided by by 9. I came up with $174.3755555555556 from that. I didn't ask for a price breakdown.

I'm assuming either A) the $155/night is accurate and there are a lot of taxes per night. OR, B) the $155/night isn't 100% accurate and there is still a lot of taxes per night.

To be completely honest, I had planned for $165/night when figuring budget and cost sharing with my in-laws.

Thanks. I knew that there was some kind of difference between the two - just hadn't quite figured it out.

I swapped emails with a Kris from .net - very aloof to their inability to help me get something scheduled. It was very strange- essentially, "either extend your trip by 2 days or we cannot accommodate you." (not exact words- but that was the general premise) I didn't get warm cushy feelings from them. I imagine it's a busy time of year trying to plan out their summer.

There are a lot of places in the area- but for us it was Bluewater or bust. We were thinking maybe Myrtle Beach at the place off the beach but with the hot tubs on the sites. (Unless I'm making that up- which is totally possible. )

Ok - Bluewater RV Resort is a very beautiful place. I'm glad we chose to stay here while in the Keys. Very private resort and well maintained. The staff is very accommodating and friendly. We have been RVing for about 5 yrs on and off. Not yet retired. Been to the west coast, north west, Rockies, New England and this is by far the best place we have ever stayed. Highly recommend if ever you are the Keys area.
