KOA Harrisonburg - Shenandoah
Just returned from a three night stay at the KOA Harrisonburg/Shenandoah in Broadway, VA. I wanted to share some thoughts in case anyone was looking for a CG in that area.
The CG is easily accessed off I-81 at exit 257. You are about ten miles North of Harrisonburg. The CG is about three miles East of the interstate. It is accessed via a country road. It is what it is a country road with several 90 degree corners, but nothing to get overly worked up about. I am new to RVing and managed just fine even when encountering an eighteen wheeler on the blind corner. It was close, but there is room. I saw big rigs coming and going all weekend.
The CG sits off the road. Most sites are covered by oak trees. They are a little close, but positioned in a way to give you some privacy. We were in site 42 and liked it. It was pretty level. Some of the back in sites could be challenging, but with little thinking and careful backing, you would fine. Large rigs and fifth wheels where there. Just keep your wheels on the gravel and your good.....advice from the owner. Tight and navigable..
The staff is friendly. The store is stocked, but do not try to replenish or provision. They have the essentials. Walmart is ten miles down the road or Food Lion in Broadway.
The CG has all the amenties of a KOA, pool, putt-putt, etc.... well kept. Would be nice in October. Quiet. If you are looking for a resort atmosphere then keep looking. If you are looking for camping then go here.
My only complaint was the staff running around on four wheeler during the day, but they stopped before evening. Other then thay, i would recommend this CG.
