We were headed to the coast but unfortunately my kids have school on Monday and the DW has to work (school teacher). So I'll hang around the house and watch me some NASCAR and preseason football. Maybe put a little smoke on a brisket. You guys traveling this weekend have a safe and enjoyable time.

Davenport Iowa for the weekend. Then Galena, Il for the weekend. Campgrounds are nothing great, but good food, good golf and good friend.

i would like to check out galena this fall. looks to be a pretty area. so, when you say campgrounds are nothing great, what do you mean? hard to get into? not clean? nice but dated?

The only campgrounds close to Galena is the Palace Campgrounds. Most of the sites with full hook ups are pretty tight. Sites with just water and electric aren't bad. They keep it pretty clean.

We are at Indian Cove near Sandbridge Va. Beach right now!! Got all kinds of seafood and stuff to eat! Going to do some mods as well to the 5er. We have plenty of brown liquor too. Have a happy and safe weekend all!

just water and electric sites are fine by me. i wish there were an easy(er) way to get there from where i am. looks to be about half interstate/half 2 lane, but still 4 or 5 hrs either way.

We were going until i pulled the plug on a new place we have never been. Good thing to it hit record high temps and having a wife that hates the heat and one out of two kids that do not yet walk.....Any real outdoors activities other than swiming is pretty much a no go. Its hard to camp in 103 degree temps. I re-scheduled for next week. Also I have learned we may stay away from holidays from now on. You fight to get a spot 6 months prior only to show up and fight to get a spot at the bathrooms, dump stations and showers. I am now a big fan of showing up on Saturday and waving Bye to everyone on Sunday and leaving Monday. It makes for a very nice Sunday night!!! Sounds like im getting old and Crusty.
