LAKE CUMBERLAND Area Campground suggestions

We are planning to be in the Lake Cumberland area at the end of April, are there any good suggestions for campgrounds, we have never been camping in that area.

thanks

Cumberland is GORGEOUS and there are any number of campgrounds scattered around the lake.

We camp at Kendall (Kendall Recreation Area) which is at the base of Wolf Creek Dam. DH can flyfish in the river below the dam so he's happy. My sis & her family also camp there and can put their boat in the lake from a ramp about a mile away from camp.

The State Park has a nice campground too. (Kentucky State Parks - Home)

A lot depends on what you want to do...boat, hike, fish, golf, etc and what ammenites you want.

Go to lakecumberland.com, the lakes communities website. There is also a very informative forum.... There are so many campgrounds as well as primitive shoreline camping. If you have a boat, possibilities are endless. Lake Cumberland is my favorite spot on the planet.... I plan on taking my A-style Rockwood (fold-down) to more than a few places other than my regular seasonal campsite. I have camped every weekend except one since April 1, and it's a primitive site with amenities/facilities nearby. A generator is all we need to have the best, biggest and most beautiful lakeview with privacy too!!
