Lake George
The family and I are in the beginning stages of a small family gathering in Lake George. My wife and I are the only ones with a camper. We are looking for a place that does 5th wheels plus trailer or cabin rentals. Would need at least two cabins or trailers. Any good experiences?

Moose Hillock . Great place for kids and they have cabin rentals . We stayed there in early June and can't wait to go back for Labor Day weekend . The sites are very large and are not one on top of another with trees between each site . The staff was great and met the owner who was also very nice .

I've looked at both and they were at the top of my list. I'm interested in the camper who went to them themselves like you guys. Write-ups are good and videos are made to always look their best. So first hand knowledge is in my opinion the best way. Thanks.

We love Lake George RV Park. They do have a few trailers for rent, but I think they are very expensive. It might not be the best park for your situation.

Lake George rv is great, expensive and like said they don't really cater to the rentals. There are tons of cabin rental places in lake George. You stay at LG RV and have your buddies get a few cabins along the lake, then take the $1 trolly ride from the campground up to the town. Moose hillock is nice, but far from town ( no trolly) , all sites are separated ( bad for groups) ,no paved roads ( bad for bikes) , would be more suited for ppl with a golf cart and older kids. No idea about their rentals.

Love Lake George RV Park. It can be costly but if you want everybody together, the Park Model rentals are nice and the campground has amenities galore, including the aforementioned trolley, which also goes into downtown Lake George.
If you have kids, it is definitely the place to be.

Lake George RV Park is walking distance from the "strip" of Lake George. They also run trollys to and from the main area of Lake George.
Moose Hillock is in Fort Ann, about 6 miles or do from Lake George "strip". Bigger sites but with gravel for sites AND almost all roads, unlike Lake George RV Park, which has asphalt.
Golf cart rentals at Moose Hillock, a bit hillier than Lake George RV Park.
Give them both a call regarding the cabin rentals, I think they fill up fast

Just got back from a trip to Lake George Rv Park. First of all, that area has so much to do. We went for a few days, but could have stayed there a week with plenty to do. Lake George Rv Park is very nice. We stayed on the East side in site 3. Great location. Close to indoor outdoor pool, theater and tennis courts right there.
Lake George is beautiful and a lot to do there. Several boat rides to choose from. We took the Minnie Ha Ha out at night for the fireworks show. I would probably do that when its light out though. After the fireworks you couldn't see much. Many places to rent kayaks, paddle boards, wave runners and boats. One spot that's really nice is the Sagamore Hotel.
I had asked on the forum for some of the things to do up there and didn't get much response so I thought I'd name a few. We'll be making our way back to that area again!

If you are not absolutely set on L.G., the Lake Placid KOA has cabins available. It's only 75 miles from L.G., and is a nice facility. Lake Placid is also a very nice town.
In any case, you should consider a day trip to the High Peaks area or the Adirondack Museum in Blue Mt. Lake.

Brian217, agree the Sagamore is a great place to visit, especially the Tiki Bar down by the small beach area. Wife and I did the Minnie Ha Ha last July on a perfect summer night to be outside on the water. Fireworks were way better than expected and the band playing inside, a bunch of local teachers off for the summer, was excellent. You do have to be careful of some of the restaurants along the strip though. Most are owned by foreign groups and the food and service will be sub-standard from what most would expect. One of the best places to go though right on Rt. 9 just outside of town is the brew house. Excellent flights of beer and very good pub food. Yep there is a lot to do and see in the entire surrounding area of Lake George.
