This area is 1 hour from my home. As much as I like the whole Saratoga / Lake George package, I prefer to stay on the outskirts. Yes, each of the places listed above is nice but not my cup of tea for a relaxed and peaceful environment. Also, keep in mind that the KOA and one of the state grounds just north of Lake George are horse parks - also not my cup of tea - nothing against horses unless I have to smell them on a hot summer day. I generally stay at Whispering Pines and drive in for the attractions when I want to. There are many great grounds toward Lake Champlain and the surrounding areas. Just my 2 cents... Very busy area in the summer!!!
