Late start to stay in Bradenton, FL

New to traveling still with my motorhome. Talked to family over the holidays about visiting Pittsburgh Pirates spring training. Was last there with our two very young children in 1985. Now they both live in different parts of Florida while we are still in Ohio. So we decided to try another visit and I thought it would be good to travel in the Motorhome and pick them up along with grandchildren living in the area.
So that bring me to my problem. Getting the agreement now to make the trip I find it very difficult to find any campground/resorts where one can make reservations that week in March (their last home game is March 23rd) so trying to stay that weekend before seems difficult for a number of reasons. 1.) there are a lot of seasonal people already taking most of the spaces, 2.) So many have a 55+ rule - though I can qualify the children and grandchildren certainly do not, and 3.) this seems to also be what students call spring break time. Some advice I have seen for people is to book one year in advance and I will certainly consider that going forward, but a year ago I did not even have the motorhome to plan around, nor did I think about this trip long enough in advance to help myself either.

Websites do not make it easy to determine if you can reserve 4 days for an easy weekend vacation -- seems they are geared more toward seasonal rentals. That is understandable since it generates a better revenue stream...

Can anyone give me any advice or tips on where I could find a place to park my 30' motorhome with full hook ups? Just looking to spend some time with family in a warm climate.

Try Sun N Fun in Sarasota, probably your best chance nearby,

Honestly, it sucks. Start at CampgroundReviews.com and put in Bradenton. Hit the website to see if they're 55+ or not (I assume you have the kids + grandkids with you). Then, and I'm sorry to say: start calling each to see if they have a spot for that week that you want.

That's prime snowbird territory and prime snowbird time, though by March 15, people do start to slowly head out of Florida. Though most stick around until April 1.

I've stayed at Royal Coachman in Nokomis and Winter Quarters Manatee in the area. Both are nice parks, though Winter Quarters had more road noise than I like; I'm not sure I'd go back there (but others love it).

I do know there's a new RV resort opening in that ballpark area. Since it's new, you might get in. Let me see if I can find the name of it.

Good luck!
