Looking for a great place to take the family for the weekend!
I'm looking for a great place to go with our camper for the weekend in Fl. We have a 3yr old and a 6 month old. so kid friendly and fun is a must.

Perfect, I'm in New Tampa near Wesley Chapel.
My top favorites:
Hillsborough River State Park
Disney's Fort Wilderness
Rainbow River State Park
Sun n Fun in Bradenton

The state park system has a great site with maps. I'll go on reserveamerica.com, just put in dates, and look for availability on the map. Can't go wrong with the state parks. Fort De Soto in Pinellas is a favorite but so hard to get into without planning way ahead.

Have fun! If you get a chance for a parents only weekend, check out Low Key Hideaway in Cedar Key.
We love Hillsborough River SP. Right in our backyard, but great trails, playground, swimming pool, and kayaking.

We have not taken the camper to Key West. The hubby and I stayed at Curry Hammock SP, near Marathon, over 4th of July weekend and LOVED it. Hoping to also try Long Key.. all sites are on the water. (We did vacation with our kids in Summerland Key, and did Key West for a day.)
Friends of ours did take their kids (3 & 6) to Key West, also in July. I could find out details and get back to you, but they were not overly impressed with the campground.
You really must check out Sun n Fun in Bradenton. Totally fun for kids. Pool, water slides, bounce house, mini golf, and dozens of other activities.

Try Manatee Springs SP or Paynes Prairie SP. With the advent of the cooler weather, manatee viewing at the springs will be fun for the little ones. Plus, the park offers a nice playground next to the spring itself, and deer will often walk right through your campsite...again, the kids will love it. Paynes Prairie offers views of deer, wild horses, bison! and wild cracker cattle. We keep our boat at the Gulfport Municipal Marina...if you're camping at Fort DeSoto, which is about 10 minutes down the road, come on up to the marina and take a tour boat ride out across Boca Ciega Bay and then on to Egmont Key...these boats guarantee that you will experience dolphins jumping and frolicking in their wakes! Lunch, swimming and snorkling, and sight seeing will keep everyone happy. When you get back to Gulfport, head up the funky and quaint main street right off the beach and stop in at Yummies for ice cream!!
