Looking for campgrounds near Memphis and Nashville

We will be heading east from Arizona and will be heading to Little Rock AR and further east to Memphis and Nashville on Interstate 40 then heading north up on 40/80 to Maine.

I'm looking to find a good campground in Memphis as well as Nashville.
We will probably spend 2 or 3 nights to meet the locals an take in a few of the local sites and Food. YUM!

So what campgrounds have you used that you like that are close to Interstate 40 near Memphis and Nashville which you like ?

This will be the first time RVing on this route so any information would be helpful.

Check out Cedars of Lebanon SP east of Nashville, about 3 miles off of I40. Rustic but very large and quite sites.

I think your best choice for Memphis and close to I-40 would be Tom Sawyers Mississippi River RV Park in West Memphis, Arkansas. Depending on the time of year and water levels of the Mississippi, the place has been known to be closed due to flooding.

We’ve also stayed at the AgriCenter in Memphis and really didn’t care for it. It is more on the order of a fairgrounds with sites. In a pinch though, it would do. Also if there is an event going on the place can be a zoo.

In Nashville, Two River Campground on Music Valley Drive is one of three along that road near Opryland Hotel and next to Camping World. There is also a KOA and Jellystone Park too. I think they have a shuttle that will take you downtown which is a great deal since parking in downtown Nashville can cost $20.00.

Enjoy the trip to the right coast. My only comment would be to be a little careful in Memphis. While there things to see and do there, it is not the safest city. We went to the zoo, Beale Street and also watched the ducks in the Peabody Hotel. I would not want to wander around Memphis after dark.

In Memphis I liked the T.O. FULLER STATE PARK- nice and quiet, close to town.

We live in Memphis area and the only have stayed in the casino parks in Robinsonville/Tunica, MS area for our shakedown cruise. Those may be an option if you are in to casinos, not far from Memphis. Tom Sawyer would be fairly close to downtown if that is where you plan on visiting. There is also a park just across the border in MS that is highly rated which would be close to Graceland. I would be glad to offer and other insight into the area if you would like. Enjoy!

Just spent a week at Seven Points campground. An Army Corps of Engineers park. 15 east of downtown Nashville just off I40. $20-24 a night with water and electric. free showers and very clean. Some sites are on the water.
We will be going back. we had site #6

We stayed at Graceland RV park in Memphis and it was not a bad CG and then at Two Rivers in Nashville. There is a shuttle that goes to the Opry but we drove as was easier and there is lots of parking in the opry area.

Google "Percy Priest Lake" and look on the Corp. of Engineer's website for the campgrounds. There's a really nice water park with campsites at NashvilleShores.com right on the lake, 2 exits east of the airport.

To visit Opryland and the mall there, I suggest 2 rivers also ..... nice park! We always stay in July when we go to the Grand Ol Opry

I just drove through all three Nashville campgrounds on Music Valley Dr. I wanted to see the improvements that the KOA had done. I will have to say I would now choose the KOA out of the three. The first two rows on the right, which are pull thru's, had been newly paved, with a nice patio and patio furniture. There were 40"+ motorhomes pulling a large trailer and had plenty of room in these new pull thru's.
Although Two Rivers gets good reviews I don't like it because of all the gravel drives (which is in need of some new gravel) and especially due to many of the sites being back-to-back sites. Some of the rigs looked like they were a foot or two from the back of the rig behind them. Too close for me. Here are a couple of pictures of the new KOA sites.
