Looking for info

DW and I
are wanting to go camping on the beach in Alabama or Florida. We will be taking our 30HDS and 3 ankle biter dogs. Probably looking at April/May time frame. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

I don't have any info on the trip but I will be following. I have a 30HDS as well what if any changes did you do? How do you like your hauler so far?

We stayed at a beachfront site (because we had free nights) at Camp Gulf in Destin, FL. You can’t stay on the beach front sites with pets, but they have 1 row back with beach views that you can and even some elevated sites that might be even slightly nicer.

Otherwise, there are a lot of state parks in the area, if you can get into them.

St George Island S Park just east of Apalachicola and St Joe Peninsula State Park just west of Apalachicola have the greatest and longest white sand beaches in the panhandle... with no view of condos or land... just ocean views. both have nice campgrounds. You are within 1/4 mile of the beach at St George and within 75-150 yards at St Joe.

Do a google map satellite view of both campgrounds to see the exact layouts.

If you have access to Military campgrounds checkout Blue Angel Park near Pensacola NAS (Navy Vacation Rentals, Cabins, RV Sites & more -- Navy Getaways - RV Parks & Cottages), especially Battleship Row campground on Perdido Bay. They have really nice full hookup sites, very clean facilities, Paintball and Frisbee Golf courses, and watercraft rentals. Perdido Bay separates Pensacola, FL and Lillian, AL.

You also want to checkout Gulf State Park in Orange Beach, AL. They have over 400 sites.

Tank

Thank you guys for the info. We are definitely excited to make this trip.

Tank... so far we haven’t got to do any mods. We’ve had it 2 years and have taken it on 2 trips. First was to Las Vegas Motor Speedway and second was to NW Arkansas (from OKC). Plans this spring are to make back ramp into a patio and this fall take the cabinet out under the tv and put in an electric fireplace.

Check out Ft Pickens, a COE park on the barrier island south of Pensacola.

Gulf Shores/Orange Beach AL has a billion campgrounds. Come April, most will be a lot emptier.

That is a beautiful area. We are spending a week at the state park there in April.
