Maiden Voyage....

Finally got everything sorted at home, and hit the road. Drove to Cloudland Canyon State Park in north Georgia yesterday. Nice park, big, level, private site on the west rim loop.

Unfortunately the only view is the trees which we are nestled under, so we are heading out this morning for higher altitude, cooler temps, and scenic views.

Loaded and ready to head out...

Setting up for the first night of camping...

Supper time...

Fixin' to break camp... Y'all have a nice day where you are...

I love that park. I miss it, too far of a drive now.

Great pictures and I got to agree that it's a nice looking park. Looks like everything is going well for you.

We're still alive and having a great time in NC at the moment Unfortunately the net is almost non existent in this park.

Will post up more pics n such when we can.

Would like to say that thus far the Grey Wolf is holding up nicely, and the eco boost pulled it thru the Smokies wonderfully. Really impressed with the entire rig so far. Whew! :-)

I use an old fold up ramp, but find a spot where I can walk it in as level as possible. When I unloaded it here I didn't even need the ramp, found a great spot the tailgate just fit over...

Loading it at our house before the trip...

I put the front wheel in the right front corner of the bed to tie it down, and slide the rear tire to the opposite rear corner....

Well, our maiden voyage is over. Ended up being 8 nights, and three campgrounds. The 26RL did really well, our 5 pups loved it, and the eco boost is really impressive as well...

This was our homecoming sunset out here in the sticks tonight....

It's good to be back home, would have loved to spend some more time in the mountains, but have a lot to do before heading back to work. Happy trails everyone...

Thanks...

If I make it home from work on time we will probably take the TT to Montgomery Bell outside of Nashville, then to Tim's Ford outside of Lynchburg for the Jack Daniels world championship BBQ, then to Huntsville to see my baby brother, and their new baby.

Gotta get back to Charleston to see the G'kids before I head back to work as well, but will probably just drive there and stay in our old Tioga class "C" we have stored in the area. I need to make sure it's still there, and drive it a little...

Sounds like the "BEAT GOES ON" very nice! Where is Montgomery Bell? Heading to Nashville 10/4 and staying at Cedar Creek COE, meeting step son up from Atlanta. Jack Daniels sounds interesting hahaha

It's in Burns Tn, west of Nashville....

Tennessee State Parks: Montgomery Bell State Park

As for JD..... Jack Daniel's 2012 World Championship Invitational Barbecue

It's a Saturday only event now. Several years ago when I attended the 3rd, & 5th annual events it was a three day event. They had pig races, cake walks, lawn tractor pulls...lol. It was a long weekend hoot!

Haven't been in a few years though, the last time I just passed through on my bike, it took an hour just to make it to the square....so, tip #1... arrive early if you go!

Oddly enough (if it's still the same) Lynchburg is in a dry county...so they make it, but can't sell it. The decanters in the shops on the town square had colored water in them because they couldn't sell alcohol...so, tip #2...if you're planning on drinking, BYOB.

Still dry there, but if you take the tour of the distillery you can buy "Commemorative Bottles", in the gift shop. Not cheep, but not to bad price wise.

PawPaw, was that a shot of you on HW129 (aka the Dragon)? Did you try out cherohala skyway?

Yes, the pic was taken on the Dragon. I didn't make the Cherohala this trip, but have ridden it many times before. Absolutely beautiful up there.

I wanted to ride the four corners at Shady Valley this trip as well, but just didn't have the time. Next summer I plan to stay at Roan Mtn State Park, and ride all of that area again.

Did get to drive to Blowing Rock, Boone, Linville, & G'Father Mtn in the truck while we were up there this trip though. Took my wife, and our 4 legged children, as they had never been.
