Maine & nova scotia/ pei

We live in N/E Florida and are planning a trip to Maine & Nova Scotia/PEI in late May/ June for a 4-6 week ( maybe longer) to Maine, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, Cabot Trail.

We like to make around 300-350 miles per day for easy going traveling.

We are flexible for we are retired, have a new Rockwood 8285 WS fifth wheel.

Just the two of us and a Boykin Spaniel.

We are senior type people that would enjoy another couple to travel with us for the adventure.

We don't live in the NE, but we've vacationed there several times, and I can tell you, you proabbly won't enjoy the weather or temps if you travel there in May/June. Given the temps Florida has, May/June is typically wet and cool during the itme you identified. Seeing how as you're retired, I'd really suggest you re-schedule to August for better temps and drier. Maybe others that live up that way can chime in, but you'll thank me on this one.

PEI is very restful and beautiful, (visit and camp on the North shore near Cavendish Beach) and the Cabot Trail N.S. is a trip in itself......lots of small quaint villages and great scenery and food. Make sure to visit the Hopewell Rocks in New Brunswick to experience the highest tides in the world and walk on the ocean floor at low tide.

Do not forget Acadia National Park in Maine. It is very beautiful and accessible. We did N.B. and N.s. A few years ago and loved it. It is very beautiful. Hopewell rock and the Fundy coast are not to be missed. Have fun!

August and Sept. are the best time to visit NS and PEI. My wife and I alway visit the east coast after labour day. We find the weather is better (not as wet) and the campgrounds are not busy. The only problem is PEI packs up after Labour Day and many of the attractions are not open. You might find that many of the attractions are not open May/June. If you are planning doing the Cabot Trail I would leave my unit near Baddeck NS and just drive my TV or toad around the trail. Two nice CG near Baddeck are Adventures East which is east of Baddeck and KOA which is west of Baddeck. If you are going to Hopewell rocks Ponderosa Pines is a nice campground that is only about 15 min. away. When we were at Ponderosa Pines there was a moose on the tidal flats just outside of the CC. If you like history I would recommend visiting Fortress Louisburg on CB. You could drive there and back plus visit the Park from Baddeck. If you are on Cape Breton Island during July and Aug. the Men of the Deeps practice their sing weekly at the miners museum in Glace Bay. The Men of the Deeps are a group of retired coal miners that have formed a chour and have preformed all around the world. The miners museum offer quided tours of a coal mine. When in Baddeck you should go to the Baddeck Lobster dinner. You get unlimited mussels, chowder, and desserts plus on 1 1/4lb lobster. If you do not like lobster the also offer ham and planked salmon. When travelling around the Cabot Trail you should stop at Neils Harbour for lunch. There is a very seafood shack next to the lighthouse. The building does not look like much but the food is great.
