Maine trip
Planning a trip to Maine. We do state parks mainly have used some private campgrounds. In Maine one thing we really want to do is eat a lot of fresh caught lobster. What area should we plan to spend time in. Hiking sight seeing etc.

If you want good lobster, you have to travel a little further to NS and get Nova Scotia Lobster. Had to put a plug in for that.

We have not stayed here yet but it is on the list. They have electric and water. Camden Hills State Park. Its on the rocky Maine coast so I am sure there are plenty of lobsters.

Hi campfirefun Sunset Point Campground at Harrington Maine is not a S P its privite but very nice FHU, Laundry, 30 & 50 amps large sites and right on the bay at Sunser Point. If its lobster that you want the owner will pick them up for you right from the lobster boats & cook them for you if you don't want to do it yourself. Can't get much fresher than that. Sunset Point is a Pass Port America member so if you are PPA you can stay for 1/2 price which was $15 per night this past Sept. We stayed two weeks and toured all of that part of Maine and some of Nova Scotia. On a scale of 1 to 10 I would have to give this campground a 10. Here are a few pictures
Office notice the lobster sign he will post the time that you need to order to get the lobsters for that day. Also notice the red box on the picnic table it has tomatos from the owners garden and they are free just don't be a hog
Here are two of the lobsters that the owner cooked and del. to our RV site
Bay behind our site

Interesting...their state parks charge between $8 - 11 extra if you're a non-resident. Seems to be a new and unwelcome trend.

Kinda is against the "Vacation Land" slogan. But I guess they make there money off us vacationers. Massachusetts charges $2 if you are out of state. Then they tax you on everything you buy.

In 2008 we stayed Salisbury Beach State Park Beach Rd. Rte. 1A, Salisbury, Massachusettes 978 462-4481. Right on the ocean and a great park. A word to the wise take extra water hose and power cable.

Also Harrington,Maine is the home of (Worcester Wreath Co.) The owner and volunteers take 20 truckloads of wreaths to (Arlington National Cemetery) and place them on the graves. They have done this for (20) years! This is a loyal company,no Gov.aid, just Patriotic people who love the (United States of America)! Youroo!!

We spent a week at Searsport Shores - Family Camp Grounds Maine | Oceanside Beach Camping ME - a few years ago. Very nicely situated about mid-coast, so convenient to drive north to Acadia or south to the "shopping" towns. We did lots of coastal siteseeing, and really enjoyed our stay there.
We paid a few dollars extra for a bayside / waterfront campsite, and even though the waterfront sites don't have a sewer connection, it was well worth it. About the only thing between out TT and the seawall was about 25' of grass, with enough room for a picnic table, fire ring, and a few lounge chairs. For a very nominal fee, the CG office would have one of the hired hands come around with their tractor-drawn honey wagon and pump TT's that were camped on the water.

We stayed at the KOA near Bar Harbour Me after entering Maine at Calais, Me from New Brunswick. Acadia National Park is very large park on Mount Desert island in Maine with lots of things to do. Had great lobster in Bar Harbour. Good idea to book early in the summer. We travelled around the whole island stopping in many of the harbours.

We have also stayed at that KOA. We stayed at the woodlands part. It's about 1.5 miles from then Seaside part. The whole family loves Acadia NP and Bar Harbor. The free shuttle buses are a plus for the area.
