Michigan UP Rec's

With Independence Day on a Thursday, we're considering taking the whole week off for camping. Currently the plan is the 3rd - 7th at Mackinaw Mill Creek, but would like to add the UP the June 28th - 3rd. But I've never camped in the UP, I'd like to stay to the eastern side, maybe Tahquamenon Falls?

We stayed at St. Ignace KOA this past summer. Close to the island. about an hour away from the Soo. We had friends that stayed in SSM at Aune Osborne Camp Ground. They liked that. We haven't headed any further west than than yet!

Thank you so much for the Aune Osborn name, I've been trying to find that campground online for 2 years!

How far up on the UP? We stayed at a great campground in Copper Harbor in Sept, Lake Fannie Hooye (SP?) Great little town, beautiful views and everyone but us had some form of ATV....even the grandmas! I was jealous. But Copper Harbor is way up there and not sure what is still open....I know the bars and restaurants are still open during snow season for snowmobilers. If you go, don't miss the Monestary for jams, muffins, etc.
We did stay at Aune Osborn...nice, with a view of Canada!
Safe travels,
Andi

No, I'm thinking of not going too far past the falls.

We've camped at Tahquamenon Falls SP and it is one of our MI favs. Elect only but water is available.

If you are looking for full hook up closer to the bridge, take a look at Lake Shore Park GC. We've never stayed there but did do a drive thru and looks pretty nice.

btw...We also have 2013 plans for MackMillCreek but we'll be there for Labor day. (and bridge walk)

Do you stay in the full hookup sites? We stay lake view by the beach, but considering going full hookup this year. We go every year for the 4th, have been since 2007; before then twice in 2006 for Memorial Day and our anniversary.

we stayed at Tahquamenon Falls SP this year and it was great. lots to do - row over to the island, great hiking and a micro brew by the lower falls. stay at the lower falls campground. we stayed in site 14, the sites in that area are a short walk to the falls.
really had a great time there. we also spent time at Wilderness SP - lots to there to.

have a great trip!!
