Michigan's Upper Pennisula

Just got back from 8 days in heaven! Spent a couple of days near Whitefish Point on Lake Superior, another couple of days near Munising on Superior and several days in the middle of Hiawatha Nat'l Forest. Stayed at National Forest campgrounds the whole time. All were primitive except we did find some sites with electric at "camp 7". Camp 7 was a beautiful campground with large sites and a fair degree of privacy. Sights were $8/night with senior pass and $4 additional if you had electric

Took a boat tour of the Picture Rocks National Seashore. Highly recommend that. Did a fair amount of hiking and biking. Lots of Lighthouses and water falls to see. Converter went out on camper midway thru but with the help of the generator and finding an electric sight, all was good. I'd love to go back in September for 3 weeks!!

Been to Whitefish Point too and loved it. Also took the tour on Lake Superior. We used to camp in Manistique on Lake Michigan and loved it also. Gotta love Da UP.

Hope you had a good time in my back yard. We like to travel out of our area, but why? We have a family cottage on Lake Superior and plenty of other places to go close by. Thanks for telling everyone about god's country.

You know some people think Gaylord is Northern Michigan. But that is Troll Land, below the bridge.

I'm looking forward to our 3rd annual trip to the U.P. for a fall color tour. Between St. Ignace to Copper Harbor we'll be visiting Marquette, Baraga, Hancock and spend several days at Copper Harbor. The colors will be absolutely spectacular and I can't wait. Last year we cut our trip short a few days early to avoid a snowstorm. Hopefully we won't have that this time. Had to have an escort across the Mackinac Bridge because of high winds that was kind of scary.
