Military campgrounds

My husband and I just got home from a week of camping at Pelican Point Campground on the Marine Corps Cherry Point Air. station. Camp ground was super! Nice size lots with cement pads for parking and a grassy area just off the cement. Not a lot of trees but that's about the only negative I can think of. The pedestal on each lot has the hookups in one place, water, electricity, sewer, cable with 95 stations and free wifi. Daily rate is $25.00. Plus anything you might want is close by on base. It's about a 23 mile drive to Morehead City were there are a lot of things to do.

Next up is Sea Mist RV park at Dam Neck Naval Station in VA Beach. We were there last year for 3 days and are meeting friends there this year. Then Memorial Day weekend we go up to DC and stay at Ft Belvoir. Haven't been there before but the new park looks really ice.

If you are military or retired military you really should check out some of the family campgrounds. Some of them are very nice and cheaper than some state parks, especially in VA. The web page www.militarycampgrounds is a great place to start.

X2 on the military campgrounds. I've stayed at Ft Benning's park twice and Ft Stewart's twice and could not have asked for cleaner, quieter or more secure parks. Ft Benning's park is right on the river and has boat rentals and fishing. We always look for military parks whenever possible. Great prices since I'm a disabled vet, I get a discount even lower than the normally low prices.

We try to stay at as many military campgrounds as possible during our travels. There are some really well kept secrets out there! And they're always cost effective. In fact, some of them will honor the America the Beautiful pass and will cut an additional $7 off each day.
