Must do things in Pigeon Forge TN

Looking for some must do things or must see things in Pigeon Forge. The DW and I are staying at Camp Rivers Landing at the end of April for a week. Please let us know ideas of what to do as we have never been there before. Also any info on Camp Rivers Landing would be helpful.

Locals will try to tell you to eat at the Old Mill restaurant. Don't. We waited 90 minutes for a table only to find out that the food was just horrible. I'm not kidding when I said is was about on par with a hospital cafeteria. Plenty of GREAT places to eat down there. I just love No Way Jose's and Dick's Last Resort is always fun, if you have a thick skin.

We had a really good time at the Lumberjack dinner show.

Also X2 on Cades Cove in the park.

One last thing... Go to Gatlinburg. Park at the garage when you first get in to town. Take the trolley all the way up to the other end, and spend a wonderful evening walking back down. There are some really neat shops and stuff on the main drag there.

That is not one of my favorite places to go, but it's close and the family likes to go, so I go along about once a year. There are just too many people there and I like people, but not that many in that small of a space.

The weather in April is "iffy". It might be 80, or it might be 40. Be prepared either way. We like to go to Cades Cove at least every other trip. Go early for the wildlife out and about. Walk through downtown Gatlinburg and check out the small shops. I'm NOT a shopper, but DH is. I still enjoy the shops. If you are into country music, many of the music places are great for an evenings' entertainment. Dixie Stampede is pricey, but it's always a good show, if kinda corny.

We enjoyed riding the chairlift up the mountain and the tram up to the ski lodge.

There is just so very much to do in the area that it's hard to name them all.

According to TripAdvisor, the top 10 things to do in the area are:
1. Sugarlands Distillery
2. Ripley's Aquarium
3. Tn Homemade Wines
4. Old Smoky Moonshine
5. Gatlinburg Scenic Overlook
6. Alewine Pottery
7. Sugarland Cellars Winery
8. Gatlinburg Skylift
9. The Village Shops
10. Gatlinburg Trail

So, I guess if you are a drinker that likes to shop, look at fish and ride up the mountain, you are going to be in Hog Heaven!!

Whatever you find to do, have a good time and spend lots of money. The area needs you to spend money in order to recover from the fires that occurred in the late fall.
