Natural Bridge

We are preping for a trip to Natural Bridge KOA this weekend. We've heard it was beautiful and can't wait to get away.

Lots of very good local wineries in the area, some of which have tours. Also tubing in Buchanan. Have fun

Very nice area, never stayed there as yet though. Natural Bridge itself recently became a state park. Many micro Breweries as well. BRPW not too far away

We stopped there on our way back from New Mexico in early spring. Looked great and clean, they were doing work in the office. The owners treated us well. Probably go back there during the fall for a few days. I don't think you will be disappointed. Give us a review after your stay.

I heard Foam Henge closed.

After this Field Review was written, Foamhenge was dismantled on August 30, 2016. It will be moved to a new Virginia location in 2017.

Stopped there on way back from Disney. We stayed at the State park itself. Water electric only. Was a bit pricey with tax 2 nights 78 bucks. But it was clean and real nice campsite. I would go again.

Pool pass free, and free entrance to natural bridge which is right next to camp ground.

Pics here.

Natural bridge is a nice place make sure to go down and see the light show at night it's included in the price of your ticket and if you like civil war history make the short trip to Charlottesville.
And if you like Americana eat at the pink Cadillac

Not to scare you but be careful of the rock wall along the path to the waterfall. We came very close to touching this guy. At the time it was a lot more concealed. We saw 5 that day most were a good distance away.

On a better note you should check out Woodruff's cafe and pie shop. Not far from Natural Bridge. They have a lot of good things going on inside. It's a small place but they are big on pies. Get there early lunch time crowds wipe them out..

X2 on Cadillac Dinner. If your travels take you anywhere near Bedford VA. Take a few hours to visit the D-Day Memorial it is very moving.

Nice pics posted, reminds me of Au Sable Chasm in New York near the Vermont border and about 35 miles from Lake Placid.

Natura Bridge KOA - Follow-up

OK, We had a trouble free weekend at Natural Bridge KOA. The RV worked flawlessly. We had ZERO issues to deal with. The campground itself was vey well maintained with very friendly and accommodating people at every turn. My only issue, and it was a biggie, was the site itself. We were in site #4 and the sewage dump was in the left/middle of the actual pull through. When we arrived at 0100 Thursday night (don't ask) I was amazed to see where the sewage dump was positioned. The electrical stand and water connection were all very new and had a low voltage light on top which made nighttime positioning much easier. The next day when I hooked up the sewage I had to crawl under the unit and run the hose under the rear axels to the dump which wound up being about 5 feet from the stern and about three feet from the left side read wheel. I actually forgot to get a picture. If I would have positioned the trailer so the dump was on the outside I would only have had about 5 feet of usable space on the right.

The area was beautiful. The Virginia Safari Park was amazing fun and the Natural bridge was beautiful. Don't try to "do" Lexington on Sunday.

Being from Central Maryland we came down I-81 for about 140 miles. Sunday afternoon it was very congested but kept moving.

Overall, we had a great weekend and will definitely be going back to Natural Bridge and the KOA. We will NOT be getting site # 4!!

Marty
