Question NE Ohio to Sarasota, Fla. ~ Stopovers?

We are planning a trip down to Sarasota from NE Ohio with our Lexington 210 motor home the Monday after Thanksgiving. We'd like to do the western route thru Cincinnati and maybe as far west as Louisiana (gotta fill that map up, LOL). We may go for Graceland to take that off DW's list.

We'd like to do no more than 300 to 350 miles a day and would lay over for anything worth seeing. Interstates are not a must. Any suggestions on places to see and places to camp would be appreciated. Any nice state campgrounds in the Ohio side of Cinci (Ohio's Golden Buckeye card give 50% off rate during the week)?

Are there any RV clubs that garner discounts at Federal or other states' parks? If not government parks, what is the best club in general?

Thanks in advance.

Al

If you're into history, the Shiloh Battlefield near Corinth, MS is off the beaten path and worth a visit. I haven't camped there, but I'm sure there are CGs in the area. Also, if you don't mind going even further west, Vicksburg has many interesting historical sites.

That is the type of stuff I like, we drove for hours to visit Andersenville in Ga. Was worth the detour.

Question Leaving Tuesday

We are leaving Tuesday without a real plan. Are we making a mistake?

Just wondering if heading south without set waypoints and camping reservations is the wrong. We know where we'll stay Tuesday night, but have not planned beyond that.

We plan to locate State parks along our route and call ahead as we go. Are we going to find that all the campsites thru Kentucky, Tenn. and so on are filled up with snowbirds headed south?

OK. So far we have had no problem finding camping site, LOL. Last night we were one of two or three that braved the 20 degrees lows at Caesar Creek near Cincinnati. Tonight we are at a half empty site near the Opryland Hotel. I gotta say the Hotel is worth the two or three hours it takes to visit the lobbies and atriums with the holiday decorations. It has reopened better than before the floods. Hopefully, we are beyond the snowy weather.
