Need RV Park Recommendations
We will be traveling through West Virginia, Virginia, South and North Carolina on our way to Florida. We will be traveling into West Virginia from Akron, Ohio on September 14.
Right now we are mostly looking for recommendations for the best RV place to stay in the Virginias and Carolinas. We have a 42' fifth-wheel toy hauler and prefer a pull thru site since we have a back patio we like to open up. We have a motorcycle and like to enjoy nice rides close by where we will be staying. We also have bicycles and prefer easy bike trails. We prefer no trees at our site and easy in and out access since our rig is so long and use a satellite. Also, if there any routes to take (or avoid) in our travels in those states, please let us know. Thanks!

Highly recommend Huntington beach state park just south of Myrtle Beach, and if your heading down 95 James Island County Park in Charleston. We have stayed at both dozens of times.

because of the hurricane/rain/winds... many parks may not be operational, near the eastern edges.... say far inland, but be prepared that because so many folks left in their RVs from the coasts, you may not find anything for a long time...

Given all the hurricane and tropical storm Florence stuff going on, and they’re leaving from Akron Ohio.....I’d take I-75 and stay inland to find RV camping for the next while.

Outlanders river camp was a nice park to stay in. they have pull thru sites but even the back in sites have plenty of room to use a rear patio.

Look at Natural Tunnel SP in Virginia. Within a 1 hour drive, there are SO MANY wonderful, scenic roads that are thrilling rides.
The park has water/electric, but has a dump station in the park. They have great bath houses with laundry ($1).

Not too far off of I77 Mayberry Campground, Large sites reasonably priced. It is in Mt. Airy NC just in NC.
But if you are going now keep in mind Charlotte NC is getting heavy rains from the Hurricane as well as western NC, SC, and Virginia. Many campgrounds will be full from people leaving the coast as far inland as TN.

Thanks for the recommendations. I agree, either campgrounds will be full or closed due to hurricane Florence. We may have to stay at a Moose Lodge since we are members. I found some Moose Lodges in NC I am going to call.

Why would you even consider going through there right now?
Doesn't make sense...unless you are a storm chaser?

Well, I did not actually say that we would be interested going through there right now. It will be at least 3 weeks before we even drive towards the Carolinas. If it still is not safe to do so, then we will head another way. I'm not that stupid. 🤣
