Need suggestions for Niagara Falls, ON
I am planning a trip for September and would like to spend a day in Niagara Falls on the Canadian side. Any suggestions for a nice campground in the area?

We did the Niagara KOA, but then again we have small kids.
It's a nice park, no complaints and the best part was there's a bus stop literally right outside the campground that'll take you down to the falls so you can spend the day without worrying about parking and traffic.

Yes we have stayed at the Koa as well. It was well kept and convenient to the falls.

Don't forget you'll need passports to go over to the Canadian side, not so much entering Canada but getting back into the states.

Yes, the last time I went to Canada a passport wasn't required. Getting into Canada has always been easy, getting back into the states is the hard part. They searched my motorcycle the last time I came back in. Not sure what a person would do if they ever refused re-entry?

Last August we stayed at Campark Resorts...nice campground. It is on the same road, Lundy's Lane, as the KOA. Campark is a Good Sam park. It is at the end of the bus line so we were first ones on and last ones off. Being first on had its advantages since the bus filled up fast. We purchased our bus tickets (WEGO) at the campground office. We purchased the "Niagara Falls Adventure Pass Classic" at the Falls office and that includes the boat ride up to the Falls which you must do!! Enjoy your visit.

Is it easier to stay on the U.S. side and drive across or stay in Canadian side? Any issues when returning to U.S. with motorhome and toad? We are planning a trip in September also.

Alternative to KOA
You may want to consider the Campark RV Resort just up the road (west) from KOA. The sites are larger, cheaper and are still on the Bus Route for pickup to Falls. I have stayed at both, but find Campark a little quieter, and friendly

If you are only spending one day on the Canadian side, there is Four Mile Creek State Park just down the road on the US side, about a 15 minute drive to Niagara. Much cheaper than the places on the Canadian side or "any" of the "resort" type CGs.

We have stayed at Campark many times.. The staff is very accommodating and are available 12 months a year for most years.. If you are coming to Canada, you WILL need a passport

If you don't pull a toad, definitely stay at one of the campgrounds mentioned on the Canadian side and take the bus to the Falls. You don't want to drive your Sunseeker anywhere near the actual Falls. Traffic is usually very busy there. If you have a toad you could camp on the US side and cross for the day, but there's a lot to do so you'd be rushed to do it that way. I highly recommend the drive to Niagara on the Lake.
JP Camper is correct that the Canadian side will be expensive even with the favourable exchange rate. When we camp in the area we stay at Sherkston Shores RV Resort about 20 minutes west of Niagara Falls on the north shore of Lake Erie. It's a great place if you have kids or teens and good value IMO. A 10 minute drive further west and you can see lake freighters going through the Welland Canal locks.
Let us know what ages you're travelling with and we can recommend places to see and avoid.

Scotts on Lundy's lane isn't bad at all and we really like NET camping, but further out in Ste Catherines. We like this park as we doa lot of the 80 plus wineries in the area.

Sherkston Shores is at the top of the class when you talk expensive. They are advertising in the Buffalo, NY area that they have a 3 day minimum at the wonderful rate of....$367! Now that rate gets you into their waterpark and other attractions and folks from the U.S. will get about 25% discount on exchange rate, but that still is very pricey in my book. If the OP stayed at one of the other suggested places like Campark or the KOA on Lundy's Lane they still would be a short drive to the Welland Canal to view freighters, a nice river side ride down to Niagara on the Lake, or partake in the dozens of wineries around Queenston or Niagara on the Lake or head up the QEW and visit Jordan and the many wineries in that area. The OP has the same post about staying around Buffalo for a few days so I would assume they would jump over to Canada as part 2 of their trip to the area. Staying in Canada opens up a lot of things to do and places to see vs. crossing the border daily in their toad.

You must have a valid passport, both on the US side and the Canadian side...no exceptions. Also, store any guns at a gun dealer on the US side. Guns are not allowed in to Canada unless you have a confirmed hunting reservation with an approved outfitter.

Passports are mandatory for airports but not necessarily for land ports of entry.

Yes, we are planning to stay 1 night in the Buffalo area to hit the American side of the falls, then spend a second night on the Canadian side to hit the falls there. From there we plan to cut through Canada to Detroit and into Michigan. So we won't have much time for much more than the falls, but any suggestions to add to the list are appreciated.

There are a number of CG's at Niagara On The Lake right in the midst of Grape/wine land...Lots of free wine tasting...Fields after fields of grape vines......A very short drive back to the Falls..Did not find parking to be an issue at the Falls!!!
