We did a similar Boston to Bar Harbor seacoast trip a few years ago. We did a leisurely trip up and stayed in a few campgrounds. One in particular we liked was Megunticook campground in Rockport ME.

Very woodsy and they have an overlook on a cliff that looks out over the bay. It's not a long stay kind of place for kids but a good overnight if you aren't pushing it.

A great place to visit is Pemaquid lighthouse.

Further down the coast is Old Orchard Beach. There's a pier and boardwalk and rides and that kind of thing. Several campgrounds around that area.

Hope that helps

Hi folks!

Wife, 2 kids and yours truly, are planning a 2 week trip in July and August, 2015.
First, We are heading to Association Island/1000 Island Region, where we will spend 5 days.

From there, we pack up and head over to Bar Harbor, Maine where we will be staying at the BH KOA.

Hopefully, I will still have my sanity when we arrive in Maine, Since it's an 11hour drive. Most likely, we will spend the night somewhere.

Has anyone out there made a similar trip that can provide some input or advice?

Thank you.
