Niagara Falls

I need some advise. We are traveling from Bel Air Md. to Niagara Falls next week. Map Quest is sending me up US15 through Pa. into Ny. I have never traveled on US15 and was wondering if it was "towing friendly". Are there any crazy hills, or things to avoid. The other route would be up I81 which adds about an hour to the trip.
Thanks

We took Us 15 from Buffalo to Harrisburg last summer. The route was fine for tailering. You will encounter some hills but I felt very comfortable being my fist year towing. Once you get to Rt86 in NY by Painted Post. Take the 390 north to the NYS Thruway (Rt90). That is a toll road, but will take you right to Buffalo. At the tolls bear right towards the 290. You will have to go over Grand Island to get to the Falls.

Check out a map to familiarize yourself with these routes. You will need a passport if you wish to see the falls from the Canadian side. A daredevil is walking a tightrope across the Horseshoe falls tomorrow at 10pm.

Good luck,
Glenn

Rt 15 is a good route. Almost all divided highway, Some long hills, but the same hills that you'd get on I-81, just a bit further west! I've traveled it in both directions, both towing and not towing. As I recall, the stretch between Williamsport and I-86 can be a bit sparse finding fuel, especially at night, so I would suggest filling-up in the Williamsport area.

Hope you enjoy the Niagara Falls area. Do you have reservations at any campground?

We stayed there last summer. Nice campground. The Beach House is a great place to eat in Grand Island.
Enjoy!

x2. Nice campground. It is only a few years old and making additions and improvements every year. I think you will be very comfortable there. I live a few miles down the 190 in the Town of Niagara. Have a great time!
