X2 Croton Point is a Westchester County Park. It is the ONLY "non-rustic" camping facility between the Hudson River, Connecticut & north of NYC for approx. 75 miles (I guess property is too valuable in the "suburbs" to leave vacant & closed during the winter).

We stayed there in July 2012. There was a Carnival somewhere in the area and several carnival workers had their rigs there which was a cause for concern but, we didn't have any problems. The back half of the park along the Hudson is quite picturesque w/trails and picnic areas. Oh, BTW, that big "mound" that you drive around to get to the camping sites.......used to be the County land fill.
