North Georgia Campgrounds

Anyone out there know of a campground in the North Georgia area (within an hour to 1 1/2 driver from Jasper-Ellijay) that has full hook ups (water, power and sewer) that is open in the winter... and does monthly site rentals?

We are lookign for a place to set up our unit so we can use it during the winter months... and if we really like it.. stay thru the spring.

We have looked at a couple and they are NOT very nice. Rather trashy or the folks who run them are not very friendy.

We stay in that area a good bit but mostly in the state and federal parks. The private parks we've at least ridden through are Plum Nelly, Diamond Lure, Talona Creek ( between Jasper and Ellijay) and Track Rock (which is near Blairsville) Track Rock is the only one we've stayed in and it would be adequate for what you describe. Its a fairly good distance from Ellijay but within an hour or less drive.

X2 on Track Rock. Have never stayed there, but we checked it out while camping at Vogel State Park. Folks were very friendly. A lot of the sites seemed tight but they have several pull thru sites "at the top" that were real nice.

Plum Nelly is Plum NASTY!! Lots of stray cats and not so nice camp site. Stayed in Talona Creek for a month... the guy next door had the cops there one night for fighting in the cap ground. YIKES!! Drive trhu Track Rock it looks the best. Will try it some time. Ended up going back to Allatoona Landing Marine and Campground. NICE!

We have stayed a couple of nights at a campground just south of Helen GA that was pretty nice. I am not sure if they rent by the month or not. It was called Yonah Mountain Campground. We were headed to Unicoi State Park and decided to go a couple of days early and couldn't get our reservations extended at the park.
