Official Maiden Voyage

We just got back from our official maiden voyage to Fort Wilderness Florida. We started out Friday April 15th made 10 miles and the truck went into saftey lockout mode on the NJ Turnpike. We stopped in the rest area called Ford dealer told us its from the new program they installed on will reset and if it happens again call Ford Roadside we go and it didn't happen again. We made it to Emporia Va and stayed in Yogi bear campsite. The next day started out great then we hit the traffic and the storm tornadoes, rain, wind and traffic. We were south of the tornado's when they hit North Carolina. It took over 10 hours to go thru NC. We spoke to an Abilene truck driver and we followed him to get around some of the 95 jams. We made it to exit 29 in Georgia and we couldn't find any campsites with space. We stayed in the Flying J and again meet the Abilene driver. He saved us a spot in the back so we started up the generator and off to sleep. The next day we made it to Fort Wilderness and had a great time. No rain just bright sunny days. Left on April 23rd to come back home. It was a great official first experience...only a few minor mishaps..the sewer hose didn't fully empty and some landed on my shoes....hit my head several times trying to go under the trailer.....crushed a table top in the rear slide out that we didn't see....forgot to retract my front legs and tried to pull damage was done except a quick shower to clean my't wait till my next trip in 2 weeks. Should be fun.....

Sounds like an adventure. I made a check list for setting up and breaking down my camp to make sure I don't try to drive off with things still attached or hanging down, etc. I do a walk around before we leave and check it against my little list. Anal I know but I suspect I will get this process committed to memory and I won't need the check list.

Enjoy your next trip and safe camping.
